#ServiceSaturdays have become the days I look forward to every weekend and this Saturday was no exception. @blesseddivasatl was in full effect for our #KeepAtlantaBeautifulCommission cleanup initiative where we cleaned our community streets! But the party didn’t stop there because we kept our sleeves rolled up and opened the pantry doors to serve the people even more. @hersheblessed chose to take the time to give back on her birthday and share her testimony for those who never heard her story and I continue to be inspired by this woman. Shout out to @westendmerchants for rallying with us and every volunteer present! Today marked the beginning of Community Leadership in Action at @cau1988, and I’m still trying to find the words for what it meant to be here.

I walked the campus, stood in places where history was made, and had the extraordinary privilege of meeting people who didn’t simply study the struggle for equality, justice and freedom—they lived it.

To sit with @drgeorgianne, an ORIGINAL Foot Soldier of the @atlstudentmovement and a woman whose courage helped change this city, was an experience I will not soon forget. Her name is forever etched in the annals of our history and if you attended an HBCU, you owe this woman SO much. To meet THEE Dr. George T. French Jr., (and his lovely bride) President of Clark Atlanta University, and hear his vision for this institution and its role in Atlanta was equally meaningful.

But standing on the steps of Harkness Hall was the moment that stopped me.

As a little girl, I dreamed of attending Clark Atlanta University. Today, I stood on those same steps where Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once lay in state, surrounded by the history, sacrifice and vision of generations who came before me.

I felt the weight of that.

Not as nostalgia. Not as a photo opportunity.

As responsibility.

There is something profoundly humbling about walking through history while realizing that you are also being asked to participate in what comes next.

Today, I felt gratitude. I felt reverence. I felt connected to something much larger than myself.

And, if I’m being completely honest, I felt like that little girl who once dreamed of this place was standing right beside me.

What a beautiful way to begin this next chapter.

Thank you once again to @cityofatlantaga @atlplanning and @cau1988 for the opportunity of a lifetime that I will never take lightly. Today was truly one for the books that I will carry with me always. taken in Clark Atlanta University by @stackk.jpg

PLOT TWIST!

This ain’t starting over. This is starting AGAIN. 🎓 Because who told yall you can’t reinvent at ANY stage of life?

There’s a big difference 😉

Getting to this moment took a few plot twists, some hard lessons, and a whole lot of faith in the woman I’m becoming. Now I’m officially a @georgiastateuniversity Panther, pursuing Law & Society with my eyes on the bigger picture: law school ⚖️ 📚

The goal was never just to go back to school. It was to build something bigger from everything I’ve already lived. And baby lemme tell you, that in itself is a whole OTHER story!

Next stop: law school. 🐾⚖️

I did tell y’all I was the Pivot Queen 😏
And a huge shout out to my circle who has fully supported my endeavors from the application to acceptance letter! Your encouragement and love pushed me to this point! Monday can’t come fast enough!

Without question, my grandsons are my pride and joy 🥹
I don’t take much in this life seriously but their happiness, health, and wellbeing are of utmost importance to me and never will I allow them to falter, doubt themselves, or become a victim of a society designed to see them fail. It simply isn’t an option.

On Fridays, I do my best to kick back but when @hersheblessed calls, I’m up and on it! It was truck day for @blesseddivasatl and we had to restock, organize, and strategize for giving day tomorrow! We had so much overflow, we were able to bless our seniors, whom I love taking care of the MOST…

This organization continues to serve this community in ways I can’t even quantify so I’m going to answer the call every time it comes through

Excited to begin my Civic Leadership Institute of Atlanta journey and spend this season learning more about the city I call home, the people who make it work, and the responsibility that comes with serving it well.

For now, I’m listening. And learning. And building.

The rest? We’ll see. ✨
