Pinch me moment. I started commuting to New York City in 2009 to work Wednesdays out of my company's headquarters. I'd wake up at 4:45 to catch the 6am train from DC to Penn Station and would walk out to this intersection to get a cab downtown. When that company merged with another company, my entire office got let go, but then I got rehired (after taking the train back up to the headquarters to explain that they had laid off the person with a lot of passwords and CMS know-how). That job ended up leading me to L.A., which eventually led to me making YouTube videos and getting my first book deal. This week, in that spot I used to walk out into the city from the train, there was a billboard for my sixth book. It was up for a whole week, but only 15 seconds at a time and every 12 minutes, to keep me humble. But it didn't work - I am VERY proud of myself AND @ydolemart! Rescue Tails: On Precarious Peaks is out tomorrow! by @stacygrams

Nothing else is going on the first week of November, right? I'll be prying myself away from my sofa and Molly to do a few events for my second Rescue Tails book. ALL AGES WELCOME! I can't tell you how many older teens and twenty-somethings come to "just say hello" or bring their old Wild Rescuers books for me to sign or just want to reminisce about the good old days of YouTube. I get "I am here to hug you and heal my inner child" quite a bit, which chokes me up every time. Or we talk about their jobs or college or pets or whatever. And I LOVE IT. These signings and the people I meet there are so dear to me and I'm glad I get to do more. I'll be sharing more about this book soon, but it's a special one to me and one that I hope you consider picking up. Also, if you are bringing gifts (you do not need to!), please remember that I am carrying everything myself for a week and do not have a porter. And if you can't make it to one of these cities, please consider pre-ordering the book. It helps me so much and also ups the chances of me publishing more frequently (maybe a new genre or two?) and doing more signings in more cities. Signed copies are available to preorder from @kingsenglishbookshop or you can order unsigned from anywhere you'd like. It all helps. by @stacygrams

One last post from Brazil! It was great to finally meet Wes in person after a few years of emailing him to confirm some of the facts about polar bears, grizzly bears, black bears, ocelots, jaguars, etc. that I include in my books (which he kindly did). It felt like I was meeting an old friend, which made sense when we figured out that we lived in the same college dorms more than twenty years ago.Wes, you are a natural at guiding (and reassuring people that many spiders and snakes are innocuous). Thanks for getting me that ocelot sighting. by @stacygrams

Lucked out with this early morning otter encounter. Despite their name, I was unprepared for how big giant river otter would be. They're huge! This was a highlight of the trip and they had to make an appearance in Rescue Tails: The Treacherous Tower.Profesh otter photo: @grizkid Adorable otter illo: @ydolemart by @stacygrams

The books I write have wolves with super powers, but the stories always take place in a real-world setting - taiga forests, snowy mountains, red-rock deserts. I'd never been to a jungle before though. What an honor it was to see these animals in their habitat. Here are few snapshots from my trip to Brazil. Not pictured is a two-second ocelot sighting that took my breath away - a surreal moment after seeing them in a video game for a decade. 1) Savanna biome achievement unlocked2) Capybaras sunning themselves on a rock. 3) Daylight jaguar photo credit: @grizkid (I sadly did not see this one) 4) Shaky nighttime jaguar video (and nervous laugh) courtesy of me. I won't apologize for putting my phone down as soon as I spotted it. I'm a writer, not a photographer.5) Southern tamandua (anteater) 6) A little Minecraft Story Mode at a roadside lunch spot.7) Blue-and-yellow macaw. It's wild to see these, as well as Hyacinth macaws and Toco toucans, flying overhead.8) Brazilian cattle are stunningly beautiful.9) Black-hooded parakeets at a feeding trough. by @stacygrams

Happy birthday @_messtiza_! There's not many people I would drive an hour in the middle of nowhere Maine to pick up from the airport at midnight and then sleep folded up in my tiny rental car until 2 a.m. because their flight got delayed on the tarmac, but they didn't tell me they were delayed because they fell asleep on the plane before it took off and didn't know... but you're definitely one of them. So glad we are friends and get to write books together (ignore the very poorly-constructed sentence above, that won't be in any book). by @stacygrams

My friend and mentor @pamlhouston has a new book out today that everyone should read. I had the pleasure last month of hearing her read it in Maine (second photo) and Utah (fourth photo). Molly got to come to the Utah reading, although she's pretty deaf these days. The book is called Without Exception. Please go get it, it's important. I truly believe the only way we progress as a people is to listen to and understand as many lived experiences as possible. by @stacygrams
