Part 2: We headed to Iceland from London, and witnessed such remarkable natural beauty that it’s hard to put into words or capture in pics. We stood on the edge of the North American tectonic plate in the spot where it is separating from the Eurasian plate at 2 cm/yr — so cool and crazy. We saw glaciers, waterfalls, humpback whales, lava fields covered in moss — some of the most striking landscape I’ve ever seen. The grey, cold, and wet weather was shocking to our system after the UK, but the Icelandic alumni we met with assured us that such is very unusual in July. Next time, we hope to actually be able to see the midnight sun. Overall 10/10!! by @stacynicklow

We recently spent a couple of amazing weeks in England (Oxford and London) and in Iceland experiencing so many new things — I’ll have to do two posts to cover it all. In England, we stood among (but did not touch!) books that date back to the 15th century in an invitation-only library at Oxford; saw the real-life inspiration for many authors (Lewis Carroll, CS Lewis, and JK Rowling); experienced a cathedral dating from 1165 adorned with stained-glass windows, one of which has been there since 1320. Truly awe-inspiring. Our time in London was brief, but we waved to Big Ben, saw both Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, and walk miles through Hyde Park, taking in the Serpentine Gallery with David Hockney’s “A Year in Normandie”exhibit. We also spent time with Florida Tech’s students on their summer abroad experience and had dinner with alumni. And despite the heat wave, it was such a wonderful time! by @stacynicklow

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy, but today I am heartbroken to let my dear Sienna go. She gave our family pure joy for over 15 years, and for that we are so grateful. I will miss her as my shadow and my sweet cuddle-bug. May you rest in peace, my sweet baby girl. by @stacynicklow

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! I spent the day at two Florida Institute of Technology graduation ceremonies, listening to the inspiring words of one of my favorite people: Michelle Miller of CBS News. We had dinner the night before and celebrated our Sagittarius birthdays! Sending graduates off into the world is always a great way to spend a birthday — even when it pours buckets!
