OneSight Clinic - Portland, Maine - 2026

I recently had the privilege of working my fifth OneSight Clinic! This time, in Portland, Maine. We were able to serve 248 patients! Of those, we had a 91% need rate for glasses. Our amazing lab team were able to make 147 of those pairs on site!

There were many incredible stories that we encountered during our clinic. One of these stories was Janiece, the young lady in the pictures and video. She lost her glasses 3 years ago. She had been wearing her mom's old glasses, which were unfortunately broken and taped together at the corners. Not only were they broken, but her mom's prescription was less than half of what her actual prescription is, therefore she had not seen clearly during those 3 years! We were able to make Janiece's glasses the same day, which she also assisted in making. The video shows her seeing clearly for the first time in 3 years, and just how impactful our Clinics can be.

Our amazing doctors were also able to diagnose and refer out many patients for further evaluation, and treatment for multiple undiagnosed medical conditions. One very touching story was a young 17yr old male, who never had an eye exam before, and had a dark spot in his sclera (white part of the eye). He had stated he's had it since he was young, however over the years he noticed it getting darker and growing in size. After a thorough examination, the doctor informed him it was likely cancerous. While that news is scary, he was in great spirits and very thankful. He was referred out where he will have a biopsy, as well as future treatment as necessary. *This young man was not a scheduled appointment. His father had come in the day prior and we inquired about other family needing an exam. If we were not there, nor asked, we are unable to say when this young man would have had an eye exam, or received a diagnosis or treatment, possibly saving his vision and life.
