This weekend, Gabriella Reyes stars as Mimì in La bohème with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. 🕯️✨

The Nicaraguan-American soprano, praised as “radiant” by the New York Times and a 2025 Sphinx Medal of Excellence honoree, has sung Mimì on some of the world’s great stages — from Glyndebourne to the Bayerische Staatsoper. Today is the final day to apply to all 2027 Wolf Trap Opera training programs. ⏰🐺

Soprano Tessa McQueen knows Wolf Trap Opera well – she first joined as a Studio Artist in 2023 and returned this summer as a Filene Artist to sing the title role in Tosca. She puts it simply:

“Coming back this year felt like a full circle moment with myself, my voice, and my art.”

Filene Artists perform principal roles in Wolf Trap Opera’s mainstage productions – singers who have finished graduate or professional training and are at the threshold of full-time professional careers. Each season, roughly 15–20 are selected from a pool of around 800 applicants.

Apply today before deadlines close at Stagetime.com. ✨ by @stagetimearts

“The [Wolf Trap Opera Coaching Fellows] program challenged me to work independently and trust the knowledge and skills I had already developed.” 🐺

Gabrielė Žemaitytė came to Wolf Trap Opera as a 2026 Coaching Fellow – working as rehearsal pianist for mainstage productions, coaching covers, music directing scenes programs, and gaining conducting experience along the way. She even got to learn from artists like Renée Fleming and Steven Blier.

The Coaching/Directing Fellows program is built for pianists and directors currently in or recently out of graduate or young artist training programs – a summer structured around your individual strengths, with real responsibilities inside professional productions.

Applications close tomorrow, August 31. Swipe to learn more and apply at Stagetime.com. ✨ by @stagetimearts

Soprano Angela Yam joined @wolftrapopera this summer as a Filene Artist – performing Clorinda in La Cenerentola, presenting a Salon Series recital, and even writing an original art song for her collaborators. In her own words: “I felt so trusted by the WTO team to bring my individuality and artistry to every project I was a part of.” 🐺

Wolf Trap Opera is one of the only companies in the world to select each season’s repertoire after choosing its singers – building productions around the artists, not the other way around. Filene Artists perform all principal roles on the mainstage, chosen from a competitive pool of around 800 applicants each year.

Applications for the 2027 season are open now. Deadline is August 31. Apply at Stagetime.com. ✨ by @stagetimearts
