🏆Who slayed, who shirked their duties and who will be making a repeat performance next year?!

Cornflowers - An absolutely stunning start to the patch but I planted WAY too many and far too close together. They were an unruly bunch!! Next year I might put them somewhere else in the garden, maybe direct sow them in the meadow 🤔

Californian poppies - These were just so much more beautiful and plentiful than I imagined! I loved how they open and close with the sun and made any bouquet so sunshiny. Will definitely be planting these again ✅

Nigella Miss Jekyll - Ngl these felt like a bit of a waste of time… they were a last minute addition to fill some gaps in the patch that actually turned out not to be gaps. Just too delicate for the kids to pick and got a bit lost amongst her blousy neighbours! 👎

Zinnia Zinderalla - What a bizarre flower! I was a bit unsure of the first few buds - but the more mature plants were actually stunning. And they last so well in a vase! Will be trying to get some bigger beauties next year 🤞🏻

Dahlia Rocco - I thought these hadn’t flowered at all but have popped up over the last week or so and they’re very cute! Will see how they go up until the first frost, but so far I wouldn’t be too enthusiastic to replant 🤷‍♀️

Dahlia Night Butterfly - I was excited about these. They didn’t even develop into plants properly. Maybe I’ll give them another go but sad sad times for these guys 😭

Dahlia Tamburo - I like the colour but they’re a bit tatty for my liking… these were also late to flower and some of the flowers have also grown in weird places! Will probs try a different dark dahlia next time round 😬

Dahlia Duke of Edinburgh - Doing all of the dahlia heavy lifting! These bad boys were dominating even in the sandwich bags and the flowers have got more and more beautiful as the plant has matured. Will be repeating these for sure🥇

The Picking Patch is absolutely thriving 🐝

Yes we planted a bit too much, and a bit too close together - but our first crack at a cut flower patch had been pretty beautiful! 🤩

And of course, the first Dahlia popped open to say hi after giving me drama for months 🫣🫠🤣

YES, WE’RE DNA TESTING THE APPLE TREES 🍎🍏

Can’t wait to find out the different varieties we have and MOST importantly when we can eat them!!

A very cool scheme run by FruitID which is open until the end of the month if anyone else is desperate for fruit-related answers 😘

We rescued a ton of peonies that were being suffocated with brambles and the little beauties did so well in their new spot! Can’t wait to see if we have more blooms next year🤞🏻

Cut flower garden 1.0 is a go! 💐

The greenhouse is now almost empty, and our picking patch is full to the brim 🌱 It’s our first time giving this sort of thing a go, so hoping all the little seedling tlc pays off 🤞🏻
