The Road Lets Go

This road does not ask where I'm going,
it just bends,
through fire-colored trees.

The window down,
the mind up,
thoughts falling behind me
like leaves.

No hurry.
No noise in my head.
Just the gray line moving,
and me, moving with it.

The trees are red, gold, burning but not in pain —
they teach me how to let go
beautifully.

And for a moment,
I am not remembering,
I am not suffering,
I am not waiting.

I am just driving,
and the road is driving through me,
