I cast Udo as the lead in my adaptation of Paul Bowles’ A Distant Episode. The first time we met, instead of the legendary cool, sexy, killer I was expecting, he greeted me with the warmest smile and hug. We skipped the niceties and we spoke to each other about our fathers. We ordered wine and I learned that when you lock eyes and toast with Udo Kier it feels like you’re getting blasted by the eyes of some god — by the time you lower your drink from your lips ages have passed and you’re someone else. Later that night, he introduced me as “his new director” and it was a golden moment and it felt like the whole world was going to open up for me. A great drinker, filthy storyteller, but always a gentleman. Too many things to say about “the most beautiful man in the world”. A couple snaps I took at his ranch where he was in constant battle with the palm trees. Adios Professor! by @standard.fantastic

We got our film scans back from our Bolex Workshop! 🎞️
This was such a fun and in-depth intro to 16mm, processed + scanned + led by @standard.fantastic and hosted at @pain.sugar.gallery 💚

It was a dream to bring this workshop to the IE. Thank you to all of the filmmakers who participated— for your passion, curiosity and willingness to learn and play.

We’re slowly going to roll out more programming this year, in a very intuitive way. We thank you for your patience and we hope to see engagement when it resonates with you.
