Thrilled to share that Stander’s new record Collapsing will be released on Apr. 11th on The Garrote. First single “A Continuation” is available now. The record features guest performances by Patrick Shiroishi, Mathieu Ball, Erin Dawson (Genital Shame), John Kerr (Pyrithe) and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell).

Stander will also be Genital Shame’s backing band at Roadburn Festival and Prepare The Ground this Spring, with more tour dates to be announced.

Mugen Django Boyd. I’m at a loss, in total shock at the unfathomable, unexpected suddenness of this. Mugen was a friend to everyone he met. He was such a zealous cuddler, it was at times overwhelming. He was always in my lap, on my chest, in my hair. Countless times I nearly cried out in pain he’d be so unaware of pulling my hair or digging his claws in to stay close, but I’d always feel a gratitude for his intention, just to be that much closer, to find his place with me.

I’ve always been proud of how friendly my animals are. He was my family, and a deep part of me. I’ve had him for most of my adult life–from the time I could hold him in the palm of one hand to this year, 14 years and change. It feels like if you knew Mugen, you knew me better. He was a window into my soul, and taught me a lot about love, closeness, and care. I loved him every day and told him. The last vet visit my vet said he wouldn’t have guessed he or Nikola were a day older than 7, with how much life they had in them. He said after meeting him even just once he could tell how much they are loved and cared for. There are days it felt like they’ve been taking care of me.

It’s hard to face a world where Nikola is without his brother, where I am without my Mugen. I’m unsure how to do it. If you have any photos or memories to share, please do.

The last photo I took of him on my chest. He did this with me virtually every day.

I’d say 75% of my phone’s selfies are just this.

He weirdly liked laying around instruments, and if I took a long enough break from playing, there he was.

They didn’t cuddle as much as they got older, so these moments always felt special.

My father built bespoke beds for both Nikola and Mugen, based in the fact that they both constantly loved sleeping on or in any box I left on the table.

Pretty much every night he slept by my head, starting from when he was a kitten.

For a long time in the house, this was the power trio. These three have been through so much with me.

God he loved getting up in my business on my desks.

If he fits, he sits. And even when he didn’t exactly fit.

This was my view for most of lockdown.

Stander x Genital Shame are playing the inaugural @distressfest this June, alongside a truly special lineup including friends in @wretchedblessing @teethkidsxo and so many more. Our own @stephenwaller.ppt will also be playing drums for @ameokama too - a triple hitter! More shows coming later this year too!

Tour with @inmemoryofthom is imminent. We play Columbus Friday and then rip around the Midwest in search of the best ice cream spots. Highlighting this Chicago show, which is stacked and will be the last Stander show for a hot minute while we go into writing mode. We both got new records and merch, come support art.

Tour with Planning For Burial starts NEXT WEEK, June 13th!

Stoked to hit the road with Thom after gabbing on and offline together and playing a few shows together over the past few years. Few people have put us on and taken us in like Thom has, and it’s an honor to share the stage with him, especially as he takes his wonderful new record out on the road. Come show the man some love and hang with us while you’re at it. Thom curated sick openers at every show too, so get there early!
