🔽 Here’s one reason you can’t maintain profits and blow accounts.

Overtrading.

Overtrading means taking too many trades in a day, week, or month and it’s the number one Account Killer.

The objective isn’t how many trades you can take within a period. It’s being profitable at the end of a trading period.

Therefore, patiently wait for and anticipate setups.
Many people need help mastering patience as an attribute to success in trading. 💶

One way to give yourself a psychological edge is to set long-term goals.

Don’t evaluate your performance at the end of a week or a month. Evaluate your performance after 3 months, 6 months, or a year of trading.

▶️ Patience is a noticeable characteristic of any profitable trader.

Professional traders wait patiently for the highest probability trades and that is how they stay consistently profitable.

Don’t chase the market, set traps and win.

Here’s how I would start trading from scratch:

Find a good mentor out there with a proven strategy. Any strategy works as long as you apply something called Risk Management. You’ll learn what that means later.

Get and study your mentor’s work, it could be his mentorship program, a course, or a live interactive community like Telegram, discord, or X where he posts directives, trades, and tips.

After doing enough studying, start backtesting. You couldn’t do enough backtesting. It means practicing with simulation software that carries real-time data to analyze and trade months of price action in just a few minutes. It is the only thing that confirms everything you’ve learned quickly.

When you are satisfied with that, move on to paper trading for a couple of months (this means trading with unreal money as practice. Tradingview.com offers the best paper trading opportunity). If you can grow in profit there, you’re getting ready for Live Trading.

You’re ready to get funded. Research and find a reliable and trusted prop firm. Pass their funded challenge and get access to trading capital rather than starting with your own money risking financial ruin.

These tips can improve your trading and make you money 💶

1️⃣ Journaling. Writing down your thought process while trading, before you execute a trade, and after the outcome of the trade will help you track your progress toward becoming profitable.

2️⃣ Backtesting. There is trading simulation software with real-time data to analyze and trade months of price action in just a few minutes. That provides a system that lets you collect information and confirm your trading theories faster than Live trading. That is backtesting.

3️⃣ Watch Inspiring Videos. Hearing people talk about their trading journey, how they struggled, and what practices led them to success can be just what you need as motivation for your own goal as a trader.

I typically start my Analysis on the Weekly time frame at the start of the week (The night before a Monday), then I move down to the Daily time frame, then to the 4-hour time frame, and then I take my entries on the 15-minute or 5-minute Chart.

There’s a lot more involved when determining your Bias on the Weekly chart or the Daily chart and if you’re in the Swing Trading business, the Monthly chart.
