first Guernsey calf born on bluebird Farms. Norma Storm. We’ve been working a long time to get cow milk on the farm. Starting off with 3 gallons a day thanks to the hard work and expertise of Jessica Poe. by @starbiter

early summer heat, restless in the belly. Who fills the empty spaces? A desert stone. The purple shade of a juniper in late afternoon. My love makes me a cup of herbal tea at 9:30 at night. I’m painting the same Vista again, looking for a feeling. Looking for a taste. Exploring rhymes. A mountain lion killed two of our goats last night as i was painting. Eat one, maybe coming back for the second tonight. I think the cricket’s hum becomes louder when there’s blood on the soil. The Holly Hawks planted along the fence line, feel like a flimsy defense against a lion who is possibly digesting under a cottonwood across the wash. squinting hard into deep, dusty, dry grass. Cantaloupe seeds are up. The new roof leaks just a little bit. The Cafe has new tortillas from a local family. Selah is at the center and the honeybees make honey regardless. by @starbiter

A half full, and day old paper cup of coffee rides next to me in the truck. the hills in the south are forest fire white. the cactus bloom is the springs surrender to summer. the moon looses track of the shadows and i’ll keep driving. by @starbiter

bluebird Farm pasture picnic 2026 was so beautiful.

Sometimes it takes me a moment - just go back and think on things like this. something happens when we all get together and just enjoy. Not a fundraiser. Not a special life moment for specific celebration. just a party for everyone. a party for the joy of it. For the connection of it. yall made that happen. Thank you so much to everyone who came down and for the bands and musicians who pulled off the highway and played our little pasture party. thank you to the Peach Tree team for preparing those amazing tacos. and My family and the folks here on bluebird Farm who made this possible. Let’s do this again. Next year. I bet you that we can make it even better. 💛 by @starbiter
