I’ve been around a long time.

I’ve gone from black-and-white headshots to color. From in-person auditions to self-tapes. From mailed submissions to digital casting.

I’ve had to adapt, I still have to adapt-as long as I’m navigating this journey alongside you.

Along the way, I’ve been asked a lot of questions by actors and parents.

Over the years, I’ve gathered the lessons, perspective, and insights I wish I’d had when I was a kid begging to be on TV:)

That’s why I wrote “The Journey Begins.

A guide for actors and parents navigating the entertainment industry—with perspective on craft, mindset, auditions, and representation.”

Whether you’re just getting started or simply need a reminder of what really matters, I hope it becomes a resource you return to throughout your journey.

We’d never met in person.

Zoom’s been our friend.

But this weekend, I finally got to meet the beautiful and talented @iamanastacialeilani, and watch her shine as Zonia in @ncblackrep’s festival production of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. Seeing her step into that role reminded me that what’s meant for us will always find us. We just have to stay ready. You absolutely shined, @iamanastacialeilani!

I was also surprised to run into some favorite childhood stars from Good Times and What’s Happening!! signing autographs. I’ve seen plenty of celebrities up close from my Nickelodeon days, but this felt different. Those actors and those shows gave me a reflection of myself and my family at a time when that kind of representation was rare. It was a full circle moment, and a reminder to keep dreaming.

You never know where life will take you. @thelmaofgoodtimes @haywoodnelsonofficial #RalphCarter
