What a wonderful finale to the @grayareaorg incubator. Windchime is an audiovisual installation that transforms your spoken word into an emergent controllable field of animations and music. This is the most “gesamt” project I’ve ever worked on and will be sharing more updates on it soon. Thank you to everyone who came by and made it happen. ⚡️ #audiovisual #installationart #audiovisualinstallation taken in Gray Area by @stardust_stereo

Trent's (@stardust_stereo) Windchime is an audiovisual installation that reinvents itself for every visitor.

As you speak into the installation, your words spark the music and a new animation pulled from a curated sonic archive with controllers letting you shape the response live. By the end, each visitor will have the chance to walk away with a one-of-a-kind summary of their visit and a little spark of play.

Windchime took shape over four months in Gray Area's Cultural Incubator, built through experimentation, critique, mentorship, and conversation with fellow cohort members.

At this week's Cultural Incubator Showcase, you can speak to the installation, shape its response live, meet Trent, and hear more about the process behind the work.

Trent is amongst one of 11 Bay Area artists and creative technologists debuting new prototypes across four thematic tracks of this year's Showcase: Generative Media, Synthetic Realities, Collective Systems, and Creative Ventures.

RSVP now to play, explore, and take home a piece of your experience on opening night, August 5!

💫 Opening Night: August 5, from 7 – 10 PM
📅 Open Hours: August 6 & 7, from 6 – 9 PM
🥂 Gray Area Member Preview: August 5, from 6 – 7 PM

📍 Gray Area, 2665 Mission St, SF

🏆 Elk Audio Challenge winner: T.H.I.R.I. – Musical Agentic Ecosystem

The brief: take Andrew Huang's challenge off the laptop and into hardware.
T.H.I.R.I. is a translation layer between AI agents and music. Instead of asking a language model to guess at music theory, it hands agents real tools: voice leading, harmonic analysis and live Csound synthesis, all validated before a single note plays. Describe the music in plain, musical language and hear it come to life, no tech jargon required.
Built for performers, game developers and anyone who can read between the lines.

The team takes home an Elk Stomp dev kit plus mentorship with the Elk Audio team.
Swipe to watch them build, pitch and take the win 👉

TEAM MEMBERS: Dennison Blackett (@bluesprince.ai), Radu-Alex Ceban (@_mtvivid_), Jazz Calls Home (@jazzcallshome) and Trent Eriksen (@stardust_stereo)

🥈 DePicklefy · 🥉 UPES – Universal Plugin Eco-System

Thanks to Elk Audio for the challenge and to @mutek for partnering with us.

MUTACIONS 3DML invites you to step into expanded sound, a space where technology, research and artistic exploration meet. A place to listen differently, to feel deeply, to enjoy immersive 3D works and to co-create future projects.
