Ten years... It's been a whole decade since my dad died. While I was growing up, we butted heads like crazy and drove each other nuts. He told me that I shouldn't ride my skateboard because I could get hurt, I told him he shouldn't ride his Harley for the same reason.
He told me I should keep my hair long, so I cut it to my chin and dyed it crazy colors (while telling myself that the choice had nothing to do with him, lol)
I grew up being known as Shawn's daughter, everyone in town knew and loved him and it seemed even the lunch ladies at my school were in love with him when they would ask me about him.
He was a jack of all trades; aside from being an artist, he grew beautiful roses that smelled like tea, remodeled where we lived with his carpentry skills, he would cook perogies from scratch and make spaghetti sauce so good it would make my toes curl and he'd have to chase me out of the kitchen to stop me from eating it like soup before it was done cooking.
Like everyone, he was imperfect and at times could hurt my feelings and it felt like we lived on different planets that just happened to reside in the same galaxy. I thought those around me were nuts when they said that he and I butt heads because we were too much alike.
Now, I see it. Now, I feel it. I still talk to him, hoping that he can see who I've become and be proud of it. Every time my artistic side flourishes, I see it. Everytime I brush my hair and see the wavy texture and the copper tones, I remember his hair, which was so beautiful that I remember people coming up from behind him would sometimes say, "excuse me ma'am", only to have him be the one turning around. Everytime I hear classic rock, I hear him jamming in his tattoo shop or truck. Everytime I see the cover of a Rolling Stone magazine, I remember the pile he kept in his shop while looking forward to getting to keep them once he had new ones in. When I look at the first tattoo of mine that someone besides him did, I hear him saying, "No more, that's my job". Because that was one way we connected strongly. I remember finding a pretty autumn leaf and bringing it to him, telling him that I wanted wings like that and he gave them to me. by @starfireroots

I was blessed being asked by Rebekah Sweet to create a piece for the new space @the_sweetsage
A fox with healing and intuition in mind and the rest was up to me to play with. Balance in everything is very important to me and an element that I wanted to bring into this piece. Working on this has been a joy and has deepened my relationship to my art in a way that I can only have gratitude for. I'm so happy with how it came out and that it's going to such a grounding space.💖 by @starfireroots

Dreams in which we see loved ones who have passed on are as bittersweet as the first bite of dark chocolate. I awoke from one such dream today, with both a smile and tears on my face.

He was cooking in the dream, some kind of pasta dish. I got to hug him, the kind of hug you give someone that you haven't seen in far too long.

The conversation we shared was lost upon waking, but the gratitude for it and the visit remains❤️ by @starfireroots

I was lucky enough to marry this beauty yesterday. Through thick and thin we have always been there for one another. She exudes elegance and class while also being feral enough to make life interesting. I love you Domi and cannot wait to see what this life has in store for us. by @starfireroots

My Queen of The Night bloomed last night!! 8 stunning blossoms that opened over the course of three hours, filling the night air with her intoxicating and lovely perfume. It's one of my favorite experiences each year, one night she puts on the most gorgeous show, and I am reminded every time why she is named as such. Every part of the bloomed flower is so incredibly intricate, I love her so much!❤️‍🔥🥰✨️ by @starfireroots

@kishasqueesha and I made it out to see our sister, Jamie play a show last night. It's been too long since I've seen her and goodness, how I have missed her voice and spirit! The three of us have grown so much over the past decade and our love has only deepened.

I'll never forget hearing Jamie's voice singing while at the Summer Solstice celebration, and following that sound to the source, to meet this beautiful human being.

We snagged some verryyy tasty treats for our collection last night, bucket list items for a bucket list show. The tour for @tomahawktheband and @melvinsdotcom kicked off last night and we were among the first arrivals to the merch table, and made it to the rail for a proper thrill, full satisfaction😈🤘
