a slightly different fiber pursuit but fiber nonetheless! i spent this past weekend at peter’s valley felting a landscape inspired by a photo i took in mt rainier national park two years ago. throughly enjoyed augmenting it with van gogh-esque fog waves and surrealist flowers. some flowers escaped the landscape and made it onto my hands as rings 🧚🌸 by @starfish.fibers

another freehanded experiment inspired by the one and only freehand extraordinaire @loupystudio (see last slide of her creation that was the inspo pic). i didnt quite do the outward expansion of the squares like hers and it came back to bite me - my squares ended up of varied sizes and stretchiness. i really wanted to keep them open like hers, attached only partially along each side, but because of the positioning it ended up too revealing for my comfort, so i sewed them all shut, and perhaps too tightly. despite using a strand of knitting for olive soft silk mohair held together with lang paillettes, it is still quite itchy 😸 but! positives! when the sun shines, the project reflects the light like a disco ball 🪩 while making this i really enjoyed using the smallest crochet hook i ever have - 1.75mm. definitely opens up the door for summer garments, once i get all the other factors right……..

escher beanie by @rows_knitwear loading… this is my second one. i have loved this pattern and working with @blueskyfibers, the yarn is so soft and pleasant. these colors are no. 1324 morning frost and no. 1321 loon lake, 100% fine highland wool, found at @mythicyarnspg. and the cutest highland cow stitch holders from @hazelknits earlier this week at flock. reminds me of blueberries, also matches the lake 🫐🌊🦆 taken in Lake Crescent, Olympic National Park, Washington by @starfish.fibers

another ode to loving lavender as a color but never wearing it. i made this top 3 years ago and have only worn it once (or twice), and it stares at me from the closet. i forget how much i love the square neck, and the overall the design, but it has a few flaws. if i were to redo it, it wouldn’t be with acrylic, as it is much too hot, a thinner yarn too perhaps. the back straps tend to gather toward the bottom (slide 4) rather than staying up as desired (slide 2). there is also bunching between the straps on the side (slide 3), i would need either a better attachment of the straps so they don’t cause this tension or to have a side shaping row to tighten the sides of the front panel (i.e if there are 40 horizontal rows, do 30 slip stitches vertically, or something like that). if anyone has any ideas on how to improve this, i’m all ears 👂⭐️ by @starfish.fibers

kicking off this page with my first knit on circular needles and second knit of the year, completed in the cold months of february. this was freehanded (after a first iteration that was not in the round so i more or less knew desired measurements) and only my third knit ever so definitely lots to learn, especially with that stretchy split in the back on the top right where i began casting off, but i love this yarn and this color and this cut by @starfish.fibers
