Oh hi! It’s been a while since I last wore a collar and thoroughly washed the dirt from under my nails, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to say hello. My name is Colin, and I’m the owner of Stark Blooms. I established this flower company in 2017 when my partner and I relocated to the Hudson Valley after 15 years working at fashion magazines in New York City. Growing up in Texas, I had a small greenhouse and a sizable garden. My parents instilled in me a deep appreciation and respect for nature, gardening, and flowers. Coming to the Hudson Valley was a chance to reconnect with that magic, and Stark Blooms organically emerged. Our primary focus is to grow and provide world-class, florist-grade, stunning flowers that are locally grown at fair prices. Sharing these beautiful flowers with you all is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I am incredibly grateful for your support.

Our farm is based in Red Hook, NY - a town with the biggest heart. We’ve loved basing our home and business here as the lifestyle, beauty, and overwhelming friendly nature of the town is unmatched. From artful & sophisticated farms, breweries, and wineries, to a charming downtown village, Red Hook stole our hearts from day one. Come visit for a day, or stay for a lifetime. (Can ya tell I’m also a part of the @redhook.chamber ?😄)

A burst of spring for the grand opening of @covetcollectiveshop ! One of my favorite things in floral design is to use unlikely elements. I’d actually forgot to harvest a few onions from our garden last year and since they’re a biennial they came back to flower this year so I wanted to use these “Dr Seuss-like” white flowers in the arrangement.

Dahlia‘s are truly little bumblebee hotels. I love it because these blooms keep pumping out the nectar late in the season for these bees so they can collect extra food to save up for the winter. #flowers #hudsonvalley #redhookny taken in Red Hook, New York by @starkblooms

Lisianthus is one of the most special crops to come off our farm. The rate of new varieties coming out is staggering and it’s exciting to see so many new colors, shapes and sizes. Some standouts for us this season has been the feathered varieties which add an extra layer of texture. All of these are headed to our retail shop @pocketscottage taken in Pocket’s Cottage Flowers & Gifts by @starkblooms

The most beautiful gladiolus flower I’ve ever grown. This is a hard to find variety called Rusty Chestnut. I’m always amazed at how quickly Gladiola grow when it’s hot out. My first ones always take forever when I plant them in a cooler spring. This was planted on July 23 and today is September 16 so that’s a pretty amazing time from bulb to bloom! These are headed to our store at @pocketscottage for sale this weekend. If you’re in the area and would like some stems hit me up in the DM. taken in Red Hook, New York by @starkblooms
