Okay , OMG I gotta get my thoughts together first before writing this because this was SUCH an emotional read . As someone who is nearing the end of her teenage years and STILL feels lost this was so damn relatable . My 15 yrs old self could relate to it just as much as my current self did and that might say something about me that I am not ready to confront yet 😭

Solehn had a popular life or atleast she had just gotten everything sorted about her messy life when a very abrupt change hit her . Due to her father's new job offer they had to shift to Texas . The way the author showed her emotions , the resistance from within that she faced when it was time to move I on a very deep level relate to it for personal reasons and as someone who has never been good with change much . It was raw , undiluted and the author's simple yet perfectly expressed writing brought it to life and made my eyes wet . When she finally moved to Texas she did everything possible to adjust there . EVERYTHING . And what happened in the process was that she lost herself . It was painful to read and yet so relatable . In order to please others she turned into something she couldn't recognise herself , her sense of wrong and right she loses everything .
And admist this a quiet boy from next door enters her life and the story plotline . Alexander . He understood Solehn in a way her parents and brother didn't . With him Solehn start's to find herself once again and she stopped trying to fit in and tried to actually be herself and let people accept her as she was .
The yellow umbrella in the cover of the book makes so much sense after you finish the book (ngl I was confused towards the start when it appeared but as the story progressed I got it) and rain plays an equally important element in the book's setting .
Anyone who feels like crying or in their teenagehood feeling misunderstood and no one to go for comfort ? Pick this book up please (yes I am a disturbing person who finds comfort in weird things)

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the amount of research the author must have done while writing which is visible in every single sentence . The way she explored every single aspect , thoughts and question a reader might have while reading this story was genuinely commendable .

Katrina our main lead , thought one year was enough time limit to judge Billy . Just coming out of a toxic relationship and also having a strained family dynamic didn't help her case either . Affection starved Katrina fell for Billy's charms before she could even think of resisting . He said and did the perfect things and was never bad to her so why would she ? But as she got closer to marrying him she started noticing cracks in his perfect facade . But she kept brushing it off thinking she must have been overthinking because that's what us women are always taught isn't it ? That we are the problem ?
The way the author wrote Billy's subtle manipulation was everything . It was small so barely noticeable and just like Katrina's if we were in her position we would have thought as goodwill but was Billy's actually evil intentions at play to slowly isolate Katrina so that she had no way out .
Reading Billy's vile thoughts about women disgusted me but at the same time this was a wake up call because it's exactly how many men thinks like . These monsters might be walking right amongst us and we would never know how unsafe we are .

The author has done a great job in writing a deeply layered story while depicting the horrors women have to face around the world . My heart goes out to all the survivors of DV and to all the victims who suffered and didn't receive justice yet . I think this story should be mandatory reading material for young women across the world to spread awareness and caution .

Okay this one was a really intense read for one . So a little advice to any reader do check out the trigger warnings before diving into this story .

The story kept me hooked from the start till end and made me question once again why I read cliffhanger stories because my patience cannot handle it ! 😭 Now I need the next book ASAP !!!

My dramatics aside Kade Hunter and Emilia gave me the vibes of one of my most favourite couples (Kirill and Sasha ) and only I know how much I have been wanting to read that kinda dynamic again but never found the right one until this one.

Something about me is that I eat up a black ops(ex) MMC dynamics like I am starving for days, add in the fact the FMC is also a police officer herself who's equally tough and knows how to stand her ground and is also hiding a secret is a cherry on top of that . The pain , loss and trauma she’s been through is heartbreaking but the way she carries herself & still manages to be kind is heartwarming.
Their chemistry was so freaking sizzling right from the start and "those" scenes were just so YUM😏.
Coming to the actual plot now this is what will keep you hooked . I won't spoil anything before release so just know it was really INTENSE . We do eventually find out what is going on but I need to know the WHY or I will actually go crazy because the scenes have been playing on repeat in my mind . There was a lot of twists and turns that will actually make you read the same thing twice because I was like what just happened?
It's an enemies to lovers and they really butted heads from the start LOL (they did seem like both sides of the same coin sometimes) but later their banter became so cute ! Emilia loves to tease Kade and I love to read his reactions😭
Would I recommend this book ? A 💯 YES ! If you happen to love a good enemies to lovers dynamic with actual plot in it to drive the book pick this one up you won't be dissapointed .
