While overwhelmed at work recently, i found alot of comfort remembering how much I believe in this work i created. My piece "reach" is on display at the tacoma art museum in the show "soft power" from october 2023-september 2024

I find myself quickly exhausted by the incessant need to advocate my thoughts and feelings. This past week (and entire year), have been very active for me. I have been doing a lot of organizing with others. Organizing with my coworkers, trying to provide a resource to the community that i believe deeply in. organizing lifedrawing with queer folks, doing an activity that i hold sacredly. I love the connections i am helping build, i value their purpose and existence very much. However, i find little time to pursue the comfort of my friends, family, and myself. I miss people i love, and i feel so weighed down by the thought that i havent reminded them of their meaning to me. I feel so amazed by how much time has gone by without devoting attention, and care to these people. I rarely see my family. It can be difficult at times, to be with them.

My grandfather texted me a couple weeks ago about how he wants to spend time with me, that he misses me and loves me. The next day, i came over and cut his hair while he sat in his remote-controlled recliner. I believe he will see the show before the gallery closes.

The truth is, i do not have the capacity to do it all, or at least to do it all with my full presence, i wouldn't get enough rest!

Sometimes, it feels like my sleeve is getting longer. it takes longer for me to access my glove. Like I can't use my fingers, i cant reach, or hold the people around me. But i can. It just takes time, effort, and experience to scrunch it up my arm.

The sleeve, while heavy, semi unmanagable..... is quite the sight. The folds are fluid, they are soft, and they are numerous, yet cumulatively individual. The weight is comforting, I am reminded of the effort they were to pull up my arms, my body.

I am held by experience. I am shaped around time. I am in an everchanging conversation with pressure and release. I am doing my best, and i am full of feelings. by @starpuddle.kellz

This was the first painting i had done in so long after an extended break. Being in the studio in the mornings this year has set such an amazing tone for my days and my life. I'm so pleased with my studio space the work in the show. Im really excited to share the space with yall tomorrow 🧡

This tuesday April 14th come hangout with a handful of weirdo artists!

Begin at joe's reception for their show "do slut angels dream of wearing hairy tights" at 5:15 at the tiny art gallery on cedar! Then you can hop on the 16 bus that leaves from N 21st and alder at 5:48 to get to urban grace church! My solo show "the slow squish of existance and the blessings of this breathing universe" will be on display in the lobby of the church.

Mere <30 ft from the lobby of urban grace is a studio i share with three other amazing artists! Miles Byrd @_manymilesaway_ , Sanaya Nordine @naya.rgb , and Jackson Cottier @jackson_cottier We will have an open studio during the reception so folks can see where the magic happens!! Honorarily we will be showcasing work from studio mate, Kip Howell @ghost.fish.art who is at his first artists residency up in friday harbor currently. We will be displaying the works from his recent solo show "In your dreams" by @starpuddle.kellz
