☆HII!! U^ェ^U wanted to do a quick Abt Me for this page! My name is MJ (He/Him) and I’m behind StarPunkHair<3 I’m 25 yrs old, and I’m a proud Transmasc Dyke and 1st gen Mexican-American. I’m originally from a small town in Southern California , outside of LA. I moved to NYC in January and I currently work at the Wayward Hairdresser– a queer friendly salon in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I love all art forms and ways of creative expression, and I fell in love with hair when I was in middle school and first dyed the tips of my hair red with koolaid. I’ve been experimenting with hair ever since. My favorite styles are inspired by punk, scene, emo, rave, and queer club culture, as I’ve grown up going to DIY punk shows my whole life and love being in the queer rave and music scene and observing how others choose to express themselves through fashion and hair. My favorites to do lately have been different forms of color blocking like raccoon stripes, halos, angel rings, and customized haircuts involving things like razored textures, heavy layering, shags, any type of bang, mods, mullets, scene cuts, and every type of curly cut. I really enjoy thinking of hair as a sculpture that I get to shape and mold to help others express themselves, and I’m grateful for every head I get to touch. I truly pour my heart into my work and making my clients feel safe and taken care of. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Psychology, even though it’s not necessarily relevant it’s something I’m proud of as I recently finished school after an on and off of 7 years! In my free time I love to do the basics like hanging with friends, my girlfriend, and my pets– as well as listen to music, some of my favs being Safety Trance, The Garden, Chzter, Ca7riel y Paco Amaroso, Femtanyl, Lady GaGa, and Ikkimel– and making digital art, going to raves, dressing up, playing games like tomodotchi life, Fortnite, and Roblox, and watching silly shows like love Island and L Word.
