“Starre Night” 2023 by Sydney Starling

Medium: Denim, Silver Solder, & Thread

I had a blast making this piece! It was originally supposed to just be made from denim, however my partner had fixed a broken wire for me & brought me the Solder splatters that landed on the tile. I just loved their shapes and decided to incorporate them into this piece!

A drawing that I did this week of one of my story characters, Anaimynthe.

It’s been a busy busy year, not in the art department but in the life department- and as such I’ve been focusing on life, I got engaged, bought a house, and now as I settle down for the cozy season I finally feel like I can get some work done :)

It’s funny how stability can have the opposite effect on us, for me it was harder to make art upon moving into my first home, the silence and lack of chaos meant there was nothing to escape from, only something to run towards- or worse, peace.

It’s taken me a little bit to acclimate to that reality, art as a hobby and not an escape. Though I am glad for it, over these past few years it’s been difficult to create something without feeling like it needed to be perfect.

So here’s to the first thing I’ve sat down and finished in some time, imperfect but impossibly fun to do. Genuinely enjoyable instead of consumable.

It’s been a busy year over here @starremedia!
First, I participated in my first few art markets, then I sold my first commission- Then my stickers made their way across the globe and I gave my favorite independent artist a doll created in her image!
But then! Things get even more exciting as I had the opportunity to enter my art into not one but TWO galleries, a total of four pieces, the first time taking this leap since highschool!

Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting and enjoying my art- it’s been such a wonderful year and with two more months left it is bound to be action packed!

As we wind down for the fall I figured I’d finally make my presence known on this page- as it has gone neglected in lieu of all the activities going on :)

I am looking forward to what 2025 brings 🫶

Commission Piece from May of this year!

This lovely bag featuring a horse decal is made from reclaimed denim and cotton print fabric for the lining. The individual I made this for wanted it for her mother as a Mother’s Day gift. It was such a joy to complete this project-
