✍️ Use Simple but Powerful Dialogue

Online readers want dialogue that feels natural.
Avoid making every character speak like a professor.

Instead of:
"I am extremely disappointed by your unacceptable behavior and therefore request that you immediately vacate my residence."

Try:
"I'm done with you. Get out."

Short dialogue can sometimes carry more emotion. Also, give characters different ways of speaking so they don't all sound like the same person.

✍️ Chapters with a Reason to Continue

For online novels, the chapter ending matters almost as much as the opening.

Don't always end with:
She went to sleep, not knowing what tomorrow would bring.

Instead, leave readers with a question, revelation, danger, or surprise.
Example:
She opened the door and froze.
The man standing outside was the husband she had believed was dead.

That is a cliffhanger.

Before ending a chapter, ask:
"What would make my reader immediately want to click the next chapter?"

✍️ Give Your Characters Flaws

Perfect characters can become boring.

Maybe your heroine is:
too trusting
stubborn
short-tempered
afraid of abandonment
overly independent

Maybe your hero is:
arrogant
controlling
emotionally unavailable
jealous
afraid of commitment

Their flaws should affect their decisions and create conflict.
Readers don't need perfect characters. They need believable ones.
