Faith Beyond the Classroom

At Saint Thomas Aquinas, faith is something we live, experience, and continue to grow in. Through our faith-based trips, students are invited to step beyond their comfort zones, encounter Christ in new ways, and grow in love for God and others.

Our Senior Pilgrimage to Italy offers a truly unique opportunity to deepen their Catholic faith while exploring the beauty and history of the Church. From visiting sacred churches and historic sites in Rome to walking in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Clare in Assisi and discovering the beauty of Florence, students experience the richness of our Catholic faith in a way that stays with them long after they return home.

These experiences are more than a journey to new places. They are an invitation to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and encounter Christ along the way. by @stasaints

HOMECOMING: @stasaints chaplain Father Aaron Waldeck and “alumni” chaplains Father Colm Larkin and Father Nicholas Ashmore concelebrated a homecoming Mass last Friday, Oct. 9. 🙏 Families of the homecoming court were in attendance, with members of the Saints’ alumni choir providing music. 🙌

Shoutout to Aquinas for these awesome photos! 👀

Our sophomores spent a beautiful day stepping away from the busyness of school and reflecting on something deeply important: who God created them to be.

Through reflection, small group conversations, team challenges, and shared experiences, students explored the theme of Identity and were reminded that each of us is uniquely created and gifted by God. Our faith calls us to recognize those gifts, discover how we are called to use them, and see the goodness God has placed in the people around us.

Days like this remind us that faith is not just something we learn. It is something we live, something that shapes who we are, and something that reminds us that we belong to God and to one another.

A special thank you to our Campus Ministry team, Campus Ministry seniors, and the retreat team from Better Humans for walking alongside our students throughout the day. We are also grateful to our neighbors at Abundant Life for generously welcoming us into their space.

What a gift it was to see our Saints grow in faith, friendship, and a deeper understanding of who God created them to be.

DID YOU KNOW?

At Saint Thomas Aquinas, faith and service are woven into who we are as a community of Saints. From opportunities to grow closer to Christ to serving others through acts of love, we strive to live out our faith both inside and outside the classroom.

Because being a Saint is about more than what we learn. It’s about who we become and how we share God’s love with the world.

Friday fun, HOCO week style! Our Homecoming Court brought the laughs with their famous couple handshakes, and we crowned our Teacher Court winners, Mr. Dubois and Ms. Oldenettel!

Cheer kicked things off with an incredible performance, and Dance brought the HEAT with their hip hop routine! The energy was high, the smiles were big, and our Saints know how to bring the HOCO spirit!

Homecoming week energy is in full swing, and we are here for it! King and Queen get announced tonight at the game!

Homecoming week has us feeling a little nostalgic! We took a trip down memory lane and pulled out some throwbacks from Homecomings past. Do you recognize anyone? If so, who?

And as you look through these photos, you may notice a few familiar faces and some history that looks a little different. Before we were Saints, we were the St. Joe Streaks. They were part of the beginning of our story and helped lay the foundation for the community, traditions and school we know and love today.

We are so thankful for every generation who has come before us and helped shape who we are today. The faces may change, the traditions may evolve, but the memories and the spirit of this community continue to live on.

From St. Joe Streaks to Saints, it has always been about the people who make this place what it is.

Once a Saint, always a Saint!

We cannot wait to see our Saints, past and present, tomorrow night at the Homecoming Tailgate. Let’s keep making memories! by @stasaints

THEN. OUR YEARS. OUR MEMORIES. OUR SPIRIT. ALWAYS.

Before us, there were Saints who built the floats, lined the halls, rode through the parade and filled Homecoming with a spirit that was uniquely theirs.

And now, we get to carry it forward.

These traditions are more than pictures from the past. They are pieces of who we are. They remind us of the people who came before us, the memories they made, and the community they helped build.

To every Saint who came before us, thank you for laying the foundation. We are proud to be part of your legacy, adding our own memories to a story that continues to grow.

Because the faces change. The years pass. But the spirit of this community lives on.

Then. Our years. Our memories. Our spirit. Always. by @stasaints

ONE WEEK AWAY! Alumni, we want to see you back home for Homecoming!

We’re inviting our former choir members to come together for our Alumni Choir and share your gifts once again with the Saint Thomas Aquinas community at our Homecoming Mass on October 9 at 10:00 AM. What better way to give back to the community that gave you so much than by using the gifts you once shared as a Saint?

And then, come back that evening for our Alumni Tailgate at 5:00 PM with some really good food from Zarda BBQ!

Come relive the spirit of Aquinas. The community. The game day spirit. The joy. The Friday night lights. The people. Come relive some memories, reconnect with old friends, and make some new ones along the way.

We want to see you! Register in our story for both the Alumni Choir and Alumni Tailgate.

Wednesday Check In with the Saints!

Take a look at what’s happening around Saint Thomas Aquinas! From the classroom to the chapel, there is always something new to discover, create and learn.

AP World History took an adventure into Western Europe, while Campus Ministry took a quiet moment to meditate and pray in the chapel. Our Theology classes welcomed a guest speaker for thoughtful conversations about morality and Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

The yearbook staff got creative with a blast from the past, putting together a display of yearbooks dating all the way back to 1988! And in Engineering, students were hard at work designing and building their catapults for this week’s competition. The ingenuity, creativity and problem solving were incredible to see.

And to top it all off, we got our first photo of the 2026 Homecoming Court, with many more to come! Here’s a fun fact: one member of this year’s court has parents who were also on the Homecoming Court, and another court member has siblings who have been on the court. Any guesses on who?

Just another Wednesday with the Saints!

Another Academic Accomplishment by the Saints!

BIG congratulations to Seniors Julia Rizzi and Madeline Eickmeyer on being named National Merit Commended Scholars!

We are so proud to celebrate these two Saints and this incredible academic accomplishment. Julia and Madeline scored in the top 3–4% of approximately 1.3 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT across the country.

What an incredible achievement and a wonderful reflection of their hard work, dedication and pursuit of excellence.

And those smiles say it all!

Congratulations, Julia and Madeline! We are so proud of you and so excited to celebrate this well deserved honor with you!

Over the next few weeks, we are taking a deeper look at what Saint Thomas Aquinas is all about.

This week, we are starting with academics.

At Aquinas, we believe in meeting students where they are and helping them discover and develop their God given gifts. With a variety of academic opportunities and support, our teachers, staff and counselors work together to challenge, encourage and support each student along the way.

We pursue excellence because we believe every student is capable of growth. Whether they are discovering a new passion, challenging themselves in the classroom or finding the support they need to succeed, there is a place for every student to grow at Aquinas.

This is what pursuing excellence looks like.
