For most, Onam is remembered through the grand sadhya served on a banana leaf. But among Kerala’s Adivasi communities, the festival takes different forms, intertwined with harvest, forests, and ancestral traditions.

Hosted amidst the forests of Athirappilly, this Tribal Sadhya reimagines the Onam sadhya through the foodways of communities such as the Malayar, Muthuvan, Mannan, Urali, Paniya and Kurichiya.

Inspired by forest ingredients, traditional grains, tubers, bamboo cooking, wild mushrooms, freshwater fish, honey, and seasonal greens, each course explores indigenous culinary knowledge and oral traditions.

An Onam where the forest itself becomes the feast.

Location: Rainforest, Athirapally
Date: 26th August 2026 Wednesday
Time: 12:00 or 1:30
Limited slots only

Wrapped in trees, warmed by soft light, completely away from the noise. Treehouse evenings at Rainforest.

Draw the curtains, pour yourself a warm bath and let nature take over. With a waterfall just beyond the glass, every breath feels like a deep reset

A flash of crimson and slate, tucked away in the green. Listen closely, and you might just hear the Malabar Trogon’s gentle call echoing through the trees. taken in Rainforest Athirapally by @stayrainforest

You never quite know what the forest will leave you with.

Sometimes, it is the sound of your own footsteps.
Sometimes, a Great Hornbill in the canopy.
Or just the feeling of being somewhere wild. taken in Rainforest Athirapally by @stayrainforest
