Grunter or Javelin Fish are great fun on fly. I came across a school parked up under some mangroves. Most were around the 30-40cm size - no monsters. They couldn’t resist a spawning shrimp pattern! Once they were out from the cover of mangroves, it was just a stubborn battle to bring them boatside. #fishing #fishinglife #flyfishing #new #outdoors by @stclement_apparel

Caught this mangrove jack on the most ridiculous looking clouser pattern. Used material from a mates fly box and got carried away with the sparkle flash but it was obviously enough to get the jack’s attention! Good friend of mine leant me the rod too to see if I enjoyed fly fishing - safe to say I was hooked after this! #mangrovejack #flyfishing #fishing #stoked #addicted by @stclement_apparel

Such a life changing experience. It forced me to turn in and face demons of self doubt and re-route my brain from choosing comfort over pain. My team held me in the race with company and confidence, and our support crew kept our minds from collapsing with food, advice, hugs and guidance. I probably could’ve prepared better but your mind ultimately will determine whether the experience of pain stops you or motivates you to find another way. We were all hurting and each of us had reasons to stop after enduring relentless wind, rain, mud, cold and heat, but we did everything we could to help each other stay in the fight…We knew that we could rest after we reached the finish line. So much gratitude for my team mates (my wife Rosie and fellow wantoks Rach and Shano!) and support crew as well as all the strangers on the track who shared words of wisdom and encouragement. #outdoors #living #inspire #hike #pain by @stclement_apparel

Absolutely love finding inspiration in the nature around us. Often see juvenile squid in the jetty light at night trying to disguise themselves as drifting debris in the shallows. Often wonder how many of these are predated by pike, bream, long Tom and even other squid perhaps? Not 100% sold on this design yet but I’ll keep messing around with it then add a few to the fly box to chase bream around the pontoons. #flyfishing #fishing #inspire #craft #create by @stclement_apparel

Quiet night on the squid front so this guy got a ticket to freedom. I struggle to justify keeping just one so I often just keep them alive in the bucket until I have at least 3 to feed the family. Couldn’t resist getting the boat out with the break in the weather! Kids were hanging for some fresh fish so that was the assignment. The challenge of rock fishing makes the sense of reward, big or small, so much more satisfying! I lost countless fish trying to bring them over the rocks, only to lose them in pools just out of reach before being washed back out to sea. Not to mention the number of times I slipped arse up on algae or fell over in the wash. Broken rod tip, snagged lures, skinned fingers - why would you even get out of bed for that! 🫠 It’s hard to explain.. but man Vs wild comes to mind! #fishing #living #outdoors #inspire #gratitude by @stclement_apparel
