POV: Tucked between the vest and the soul.
Found a unique spot for the phone to capture this angle. It’s tight, it’s raw, and it shows exactly what it feels like to be locked into the Arri Artemis 2.

Wish you could see the monitor from here, but you can definitely feel the flow of the move. Sometimes the best perspective is the one the audience never sees.

MAN VS. RESISTANCE
I promised you a leg day breakdown, and here is part one. No excuses, just pure tension. Today is a high-carb day (250g+), so the energy is through the roof and the pump is real.
1️⃣ Banded Hack Squat
I don’t use bands to make it easier. I use them to make it a hell of a fight.
• The Goal: Constant tension.
• The Challenge: Fighting the resistance at the top. The higher I go, the heavier it gets.
• Pro Tip: Keep knees soft at the top. DON’T LOCK OUT. Save your joints, keep the load on the quads.
2️⃣ Zercher Good Mornings
As a cinematographer, my back is my bread and butter. Holding the weight in the crooks of my elbows builds that “Steel Core” you need for long shifts with the Steadicam or Artemis 2.
• The Focus: Massive posterior chain load.
• The Key: Hips back, controlled eccentric, and a solid spine.
Leg day isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about building a functional machine that can handle 12-hour shifts on set.

Light weight, lethal pump. 🧨
Hardest bicep variation I’ve done. Full stretch, elbows out, zero momentum.

My biceps literally exploded after this set. Don’t sleep on the fundamentals.
As a Steadicam operator, every muscle in the arm matters. This incline variation hits the long head of the bicep like nothing else. Focused on that deep stretch and controlled path. It’s painful, but it’s worth it.

HOW I GOT SHUT DOWN BY DARREN ARONOFSKY. 🤦‍♂️

Swipe to the picture. That’s me, waiting in line at 11 PM after a crazy day. I was on a high—we’d just sold out a huge batch of Batch #001, and the feedback was insane. I felt like the King of Jerky. 👑
So when I heard Darren Aronofsky was giving a lecture, I grabbed a premium pack of DCPLN Snacks and headed over. I wanted to give the master behind The Whale and Black Swan a taste of real filmmaker fuel.
The staff warned me I might not make it, but I waited. Finally, I’m at the front. I hold out the black bag, full of pride: “Darren, a gift for you—for when you’re stuck in the edit. Director’s Cut.”
He looks at me. Dead silence.
“I don’t eat beef.”
The awkwardness was real. It was a brutal rejection. The ultimate reality check.
The Lesson? Know your audience? For sure. But also, I learned that even legends can be wrong... I joke, I joke! 😂
But seriously, I stand by my craft. DCPLN Snacks are for the meat-eaters, the set-grinders, and the carnivores who need massive protein to survive a 14-hour production day. Darren might not want it, but I know YOU do.

Huge shoutout to Marcus from Catgriller in Germany for sending over this innovative Docking Bracket. It’s a game-changer for my rig, but as with any precision gear, there was one tiny detail that needed a custom touch to make it absolutely perfect for my specific setup.
