2026 USAPL Southeast Regionals

9/9, 1st Place, Women’s Open 52kg

S: 72.5kg // 159lb (+2.5kg Meet PR, matched ATPR)
B: 45kg // 99lb (+2.5kg Meet PR, matched ATPR)
D: 110kg // 242lb (+2.5kg Meet PR, ATPR)

Total: 227.5kg // 501lb (+12.5kg Meet PR)
DOTS: 284.49 (+13.93)

Leave it to the Big Bratwurst ™️ to surprise everyone on the day once again!! After last regionals, we elected to take the year to cure what ails us (which is really hard to do if you live a life that doesn’t allow you to lol). With squat, our biggest task was finding a bar position that allowed for efficient movement without affecting neck/shoulder health. Low-bar topsets with high-bar backoffs really allowed us to hone that in without any limiting factors playing a part. Now we squat 2 reds!

Across training, Steen’s bench has been the most consistent aside from just crossing over that 95lb barrier (which clearly was not an issue on the day). Grateful that @thelifeofstrengthllc has chips that we can add to work within those standard 2.5kg jumps. Luckily the head and neck haven’t affected bench all that much, so we’ve been full steam ahead!!

With Steen’s semi-recent switch to sumo, our main goals going into Regionals were to hone the movement, allowing the weight to follow solid technique as is of utmost importance with sumo compared to conventional. Still plenty of things to iron out but for her meet debut, I’d say an ATPR shows signs of pretty solid progress! I’m really proud of this one. Slowly but surely checking off goals I once thought were out of reach, surrounded by a community of strong ass friends who make the hard days suck a little less and the good days even more fun. It doesn’t get much better than that. 🤍

Kate is at rest after a long and happy life. It is impossible to sum up thirteen years of memories surrounding the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Just know that Kate was the love of my life and I am so lucky to have known her. Forever grateful to @southpawtracy for scooping up my girl from the side of the road one rainy winter day in Georgia and helping her find her way home to me.
