A beautiful, HOT day spent learning all things sourdough at @fermentouk.

We got to see the full bread making process from grain to loaf, making our own sourdough rye & country loaves and focaccia from Fermento's freshly milled flour before being baked in their wood-fired oven.

Went home with more bread than I could eat and a big appreciation for the fountain of knowledge that Daniele is! taken in Uckfield, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

A very special commission for @fieldfoodco's Fermentation Workshop with @dethample.

When Libby from Field Food asked if I could make fermentation weights for last weekend's workshop, it was an immediate yes (despite never having made anything like them before).

I'd been lucky to have experienced last year's Spring edition of the workshop, armed with the best produce and Rachel's incredible knowledge on all things fermentation.

I've been an avid pickler from my @supa_ya_ days, so the thought of creating some weights, not just to fill my various recepticles, but to assist the bubbling jars of fellow fermentation enthusiasts was such a pleasure!

No better feeling that picking up the latest kiln haul!

A real mix of pots. Some of my usual suspects using celadon & tenmoku glazes on a jug and two mugs.
Alongside some tests of the new clay and glazes I've been trying at home. A mug in a china red glaze - not quite as red as I'd like but that's what tests are for! But loving the transparent glazes on a smaller mug and two dip dishes. taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

My most prized possession. A Chinese wedding basket. The one my sister had growing up for as long as I can remember. It housed her make-up, jewelry and other special tidbits. It was the one thing I asked for after she passed away.

I've had the thought to make this from clay for a while. Definitely the most technical thing I've ever made. I've never attempted a lidded pot, let alone 3 parts that have to match up exactly, along with the longest handle that I decided to pull, and decided to make use of some old lino cutting tools. I can't wait to see how it turns out and hoping it survives through to being fully glazed and fired. taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

Loving the sunshine, period. But especially love the feeling of new beginnings in the air, doing some pottery at home and getting to know my space in a new way. taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

The home pottery studio is slowly coming together and I suspect this will become a bit of a regular. The cat hasn't had much interest in the wheel, or my pots and I don't think she'll let my pottery interrupt her regular jumper time.

The trials and tribulations of mug making.
I feel like I'm getting to a mug shape that I really enjoy, not wholly consistent but it's getting there, particularly with ones I'm working on at the moment

Handles on the other hand... they are hard! I've been pulling them by hand then attaching them and hoping for the best. I'd love to get to the point of pulling them from the mug itself. So, I guess that means a lot more mugs this year so I can practice. taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

A beautiful evening spent hosting cookbook club, this time with recipes from @sambalshiok The Malaysian Cookbook. I remember getting this cookbook a few years ago. It brought so much joy to see so many recipes I recognised and had enjoyed but hadn't necessarily made myself. So to come together and share a few dishes cooked by each of us (@fieldfoodco @wild_things_food_ @neeka_rh) felt really special.

1. The full spread
2. The lil menu mocked up for each cookbook club alongside my antique shop serving spoon finds
3. Stir-fried radish cake, prawn fritters, herbal salad and a sneaky extra pickle
4. Malay red chicken, turmeric pickles, roti
5. @rpsnapes on the roti, using croissant flour 🥐
6. Frying the prawn fritters
7. Sambal prep
8. Lamb ribs, later to be fried in lamb fat, green chilli & garlic

Didn't manage to snap the desserts 🫠.

Looking back at some of my favourite things I've made in 2025 - the pottery edition.

I often don't take stock of how far I've come but what a difference a year makes when you continually show up. There's been a bit of a theme this year, lots of wiggly things, small things to offset some of the bigger commissions I've worked on. I'm looking forward to playing around a bit more this year!

So grateful I've been able to do this - thank you to everyone who has supported me or bought one of my pieces, no comment or word of encouragement has gone unnoticed.

1. Picking up pots including tester pasta bowls for @trentinajq at @star_communitypotteryci
2. Working on a new stamp in December to mark my pottery in 2026
3. Tiny little mugs on iron rich clay
4. Pasta bowl extras that were sold to raise money for @gazasoupkitchen
5. Pasta bowls in action at @trentinajq
6. Playing around with footed bowls at @clayfulhands
7. Small plate commission for @trentinajq
8. Ramen bowls that I made for @cookingwithmamaz & @doggandbeaune
9. Lil wiggly bowls
10. Lipped plates that I loved and have had to keep
11. A perfectly shaped mug, imo - in iron rich clay
12. Jugs I made at the start of 2025, while I like them I feel like I'd do so much differently now and look forward to making some more in 2026.
13. Wiggly bud vase
14. Wiggly footed bowl thing
15. Tiny bowls
16. Lil bowl/plate
17. Earlier iteration of the perfect mug
18. First iteration of the wiggly bowls
19. Not all things worked out, including 4 bowls that arrived broken 💔 taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

I've got some teeny tiny bits & bobs available.

Moving into bits & bobs from odds & sods as my pieces are becoming more intentional and less happy accidents. This year I've been refining, with repetition throws and testing certain glaze combinations over and over. I've had fun making wobbly shaped things and dabbling in a new iron rich clay of which the tiny mugs are my first batch. I've also been experimenting with a new mark which I hope to fully introduce next year as my pottery journey continues.

Anyway, hope you like! Pieces available below, priced per item.
tiny mugs : £17
tiny wiggly bowls : £15
tiny bowls : £13
tiny plates : £13

Hosted our first cook book club in Lewes, cooking an array of dishes from @thebotanicalbeekeeper.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time - a way to foster new foodie connections since moving out of London and it feels so special that the first has finally happened, in a space that's now my home. A thank you to @fieldfoodco and @neeka_rh for bringing this to life.

Dishes:
honeyed lamb chipotle tacos
double plum ribs and lime leaf slaw
honeyed mushrooms two ways - pickled & roasted
griddled green salad with smoked almonds
honeycomb bread
honey tarte tatin
honey on toast ice cream
smoked mezcal margarita taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face

small plate, flow state.

I get in a different mental state when working on pottery commissions - this one is for 24 small plates for a friend's restaurant.

Once the testing has been done for size and glazes, I just need to throw, repetitively, aiming for as much consistency as possible. I do love this process - there's almost a zoning out, just feeling the clay without thinking too much. taken in Lewes, East Sussex by @steff.my.face
