We’re excited to share the online documentation of Steffen Jopp’s solo show.Featuring installation views and an accompanying text by Sebastian Peter.[Link in bio]Steffen Jopp‘CUTIS‘11 July – 22 August 2026Our regular hours:Wed - Fri 12-6 pmSaturday 12-4 pmHautstück (piece of skin), Ohne Spiegel leben (living without a mirror), Dekompression (decompression), Regeneration (regeneration), Kompensation (compensation), anthropomorphic sheet-steel forms, the MRI scan of a hand—even a first glance at the list of works and a quick walk through Steffen Jopp’s exhibition “Cutis” makes it clear that the human body, and the skin in particular, play a central role in his artistic practice.Cutis (Latin for “skin”) is the medical and biological term for the skin as an external organ in humans and animals. As the largest organ of the human body, it serves as a protective shield for our internal organs and a sensitive receptor of the world around us: it protects us from the outside world and connects us to it. Through the skin, we experience touch, warmth, cold, and pain; at the same time, our emotions become visible on it—we blush, turn pale, or sweat. As the body’s visible outer layer, it also shapes how we are perceived, recognized, and categorized in society.Photo © Dirk Tacke____________________@steffenjopp@sebastian.peter.1#nouveauxdeuxdeux #steffenjopp by @steffenjopp

We are delighted to announce Steffen Jopp’s second solo exhibition at the gallery.STEFFEN JOPP'CUTIS'OPENING RECEPTIONFriday, 10 July | 6–9 pmPlease join us✨From the outset, Steffen Jopp’s practice has been rooted in the exploration of his own skin as membrane, surface, shield, and emotional register. He is drawn to the paradox of the skin as an organ that simultaneously protects and separates the body from the physical world while exposing it, often mercilessly, in its vulnerability. His work is informed by the conviction that virtuality is an inherent dimension of reality and that digitality exists independently of technological apparatus. Rather than understanding these as separate domains, he conceives of them as fundamentally intertwined, much like the fluid boundaries between interior and exterior space or the continuous transitions between states, places, and modes of being. As he moves through the world, the boundaries between internal and external conditions are in constant flux. The crossing of membranes, thresholds, and liminal zones becomes an ongoing recalibration of self perception, as though the self were a specimen being read from its periphery. This condition of continual negotiation, translation, and transformation lies at the core of his practice.Steffen Jopp (b. 1991, Iserlohn, Germany) lives and works in Düsseldorf. He studied Fine Arts under Gregor Schneider at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2015 to 2022, earning his Diploma and Meisterschüler distinction in 2022.Jopp has received several awards and grants, including the Hogan Lovells Grant (2017), a DAAD Travel Grant to the College for Music and Arts in Montepulciano, Italy (2018), and an Artist in Residence position at Cano-Lasso Architects, Los Angeles (2024)._____________________________________@steffenjopp#nouveauxdeuxdeux #steffenjopp #opening by @steffenjopp
