What if the wisdom we need is hidden in the smallest moments? ✨

Maktub by Paulo Coelho is a collection of short stories and reflections about life, love, choices and the unexpected lessons we encounter along the way.

Not a book to rush through, but one to pause, reflect on and return to.
Sometimes a few lines are enough to change your perspective.

What if Little Women was a murder mystery… and Beth was the victim?

Beth Is Dead takes a beloved literary classic and turns it into a modern whodunit.

Four sisters. One murder. Plenty of secrets.

What makes the premise so intriguing is the contrast between the familiar March sisters and a story built around suspicion, family loyalty, and the question of how well we really know the people closest to us.

A dark twist on a classic that makes you question everything you thought you knew.

Would you read a murder mystery based on your favorite classic?

What if following the rules is part of the problem?

The House in the Cerulean Sea starts with Linus: cautious, predictable, and very comfortable following the rules. Then he meets a house full of children he has been taught to fear.

What stayed with me most was how quietly the story questions prejudice, conformity and the idea of staying “neutral” when a system is unfair. Sometimes the people we think we’re there to help are the ones who show us what we were missing.

Warm, funny and much more thought-provoking than its coziness suggests. 💙

I stayed for Princess Donut 😌

Dungeon Crawler Carl is chaotic, brutal, hilarious, and unexpectedly human.

Carl’s determination to help others even when survival is at stake won me over. And Donut? A glamorous former show cat with opinions, attitude and absolutely no filter. Obviously my favorite!

Somehow, between monsters, mayhem and absurdity, this book also made me think about what it means to stay human when the world becomes a game.

What if the real danger is believing the labels we’ve been taught?

Wicked gave me action, mystery, romance and humor, but what stayed with me most was everything underneath.

Ivy’s loneliness and loss. Ren’s surprisingly healthy communication. Tink bringing friendship and belonging into her life. And, above all, the question of how easily we judge someone based on what they are rather than who they are.

I definitely got frustrated with Ivy sometimes, but I also understood where her walls came from. And Ren? Confident without being arrogant, direct without pushing 😌✨

Not everything is what we’ve been taught to see.

Plot twist: the goal isn’t to stop giving a f*ck. It’s to choose what deserves one.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is less about caring less and more about caring selectively.

Not every problem deserves our energy. Not every opinion deserves our attention. And a good life doesn’t mean a life without problems, but choosing the problems that are actually worth having.

A refreshingly imperfect take on happiness, responsibility and what we decide to value.

I liked Fable. Then Namesake made me understand why I needed the whole story.

What started as a story about survival, diving, trading and finding your place became something much more interesting to me: a story about trust, family, loyalty and what we’re willing to do for the people we love.

I especially loved Namesake. There was more action, a little more romance, another twist I didn’t see coming, and relationships that became far more complicated than they first appeared.
Even Saint became more human to me once I understood more of his choices.

And maybe that’s what I enjoyed most about this duology: people make choices, but those choices are shaped by love, survival, power and the circumstances they’ve been given.

Also... can we appreciate a sequel that’s even better than the first book?

Can someone feel familiar and still be a stranger?

In Fremde Freunde, Max Küng looks at friendship, appearances and all those things people leave unsaid, with his sharp, humorous eye for seemingly ordinary relationships.

Because sometimes, the people we think we know best remain strangers in unexpected ways.

All die Farben all das Licht surprised me with how much it packed into what initially feels like a glimpse into someone’s everyday world.

I loved the changing perspectives, the representation of living with Usher syndrome, and especially how the story explores the ripple effect our pain, fears and choices can have on the people around us.

Then suddenly… chaos. An adventure. And a story that becomes much bigger than I expected. 👀

Emotional, thoughtful and wonderfully human. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I didn’t read Glasgow Boys. I devoured it. And then I cried. A lot.

Banjo and Finlay were once incredibly close, but something happened that pulled them apart. Through alternating perspectives and flashbacks, we slowly discover their shared past, and every new piece of information changes the way we understand what came before.

What I loved most is that this isn’t simply a story about one person saving another. These are two teenagers carrying things far too heavy for their age, supporting each other, hurting each other, misunderstanding each other and eventually learning how to be vulnerable again.
It’s a story about friendship, belonging, trust, love, communication and second chances. And underneath all of it was a message I absolutely loved:

✨ Where we start doesn’t determine where we end up.✨

I finished it and immediately wanted to go back to page one, because knowing the whole story changes EVERYTHING.

⭐️ 5/5

A little extra thank you to the publisher (@ullsteinbuchverlage ) for gifting us the books for this Book Circle: 🫶🏻

And a big thank you to @orellfuessli ssli for organizing these Book Circles.

Our discussion about Glasgow Boys was so thoughtful and interesting: one of those conversations that makes you look at a book from perspectives you might never have considered while reading it alone. taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @stefifiume

I honestly think every autobiography should come with the option of listening to the author narrate it themselves.

Listening to Michelle Obama tell her own story made Becoming feel incredibly personal. She has a wonderful voice and such a pleasant way of narrating, but what stayed with me most was how refreshingly direct she is about her life.

Becoming Me was definitely my favourite part. Her journey gave me hope, not because it presents success as the inevitable reward for working hard, but because it shows all the uncertainty, risks and changes of direction along the way. I especially appreciated how openly she talks about career choices, salaries and the financial reality of leaving one path for another that feels more meaningful.

I also loved how simply she describes falling in love with Barack: feeling at ease together, making each other laugh and deciding to see where it goes. ❤️

And then there is the completely different world of the White House: an extraordinary experience, but also one that changed her family’s everyday life and placed everything she said under enormous scrutiny.

I finished Becoming feeling genuinely inspired. Not because her story is made only of extraordinary achievements, but precisely because it isn’t.

Success is never only made of highs. The lows, doubts, risks and changes of direction are part of our becoming too.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
