Last week, my trading profits paid for my groceries, rent, taxis and meals out.

Not as a number on a screen. At the till.

Every broker in the world knows the other side of this job:

A deal slips into next month.
The bills don't.
You're "doing well" on paper, but nothing has transferred to your bank balance.

I lived in this cycle for over 2 years.

It's the part of real estate nobody posts about. The commissions are big. The gaps between them can be bigger.

Two things changed it for me.

1. Gold Copy Trading
A strategy that runs in the background whilst I'm in meetings. I'm not watching charts all day.

2. The BIX card
A Visa card linked to my crypto wallet. When I take profit, I top it up and spend it like any other card. Supermarket, fuel, coffee.

I expected the first to matter most. It was the second.

Profit in an app after a successful week of copy trading never felt real.
Profit that pays for Wednesdays meal out does.

What I've learned:

→ Income you can't touch doesn't reduce stress.
→ A second income doesn't need to be big to change how a slow month feels.
→ A calm broker gives better advice than a broker who needs the deal.

It hasn't replaced real estate. It has taken the pressure off the quiet months.

It isn't magic. Trading carries risk, the odd day can be red and I only use money I can afford to leave alone.

But if your income lives and dies by the next closing, a second stream you can actually touch changes how you sleep.

The part of commission based work nobody really talks about…

You can have your best month ever.

Then the 1st rolls around and mentally, you’re back at zero.

New targets. New clients. New deals.

And even deals you thought were done can get delayed, fall apart or take months before you actually see the commission.

I love what I do, but I started asking myself a different question:

How do I make the money I’ve already earned start working alongside me?

That question led me to explore a second income stream outside of my main career.

Something hands off from my side, with performance I could actually track and data I could see for myself.

I started small because, like most people, I was sceptical.

I wanted to experience it with my own money before talking about it publicly.

Now, my thinking has changed.

It isn't about quitting your job or replacing your career.

It's about becoming less dependent on your next commission cheque.

It's been a brutal year for brokers in the UAE. No point pretending otherwise.

Deals that were meant to close by now are stuck in limbo.

Clients who were ready to sign are suddenly quiet, pulling back, waiting, watching the wider situation in the region before committing to anything...

..and when the deal doesn't close, the commission doesn't land.

No sale, no pay!

That's the reality of this business, and right now more of us are feeling it than usual.

I'm not going to sugarcoat the market. But I have been doing something about my own income on the side.

For the rest of this year, I'm helping fellow brokers explore gold copy trading as a way to build a second income stream, one that isn't dependent on a deal closing or a client staying on board.

I've documented my own results transparently (deposit through withdrawal, fully verified), and I'm walking through exactly how it works on free sessions tomorrow!

To be clear: this isn't investment advice, and trading carries risk, I'm simply sharing what I've done personally and how other brokers can look into it for themselves.

One of the hardest parts of working in real estate isn't selling property.

It's the unpredictability of your income.

I've worked commission only for years.

You can have a brilliant month followed by a month where two deals fall over, a client disappears, a developer delays a launch or a commission takes far longer to arrive than expected.

Meanwhile, the mortgage, rent, golf membership, car payments and everything else don't particularly care. 😂

That was one of the reasons I started looking at what else I could do with the money I was earning.

Not to leave real estate.

Not to become a trader.

Simply to diversify.

Earlier this year I was introduced to a gold copy trading strategy. I was sceptical at first, anything involving trading and social media immediately gets my guard up.

So rather than blindly promoting something, I started with my own money and have spent the last few months understanding how it works, experiencing both winning and losing trades, and learning more about the risks involved.

It's now become an interesting part of my own wider financial strategy.

I've also realised how many other people in commission based industries have exactly the same problem I did:

How do I make the money I earn work harder during the months when commissions aren't landing?
