A quick week at the cabin is in the books. It wasn’t the trip we had planned because we were pretty limited on what we could do with the area still in the fire zone. Even so, we couldn’t be more grateful that our cabin is still standing.

The first video was taken as the fire burned in the next draw. The loud sound in the background isn’t wind. It’s the fire ripping through the trees. The next couple of photos show just how close the fire came to our cabin, followed by a look at the incredible size of the burn area.

A sincere thank you to the firefighters and first responders whose courage and hard work helped protect this beautiful place. We are incredibly grateful.

This photo was taken in 1965. My dad was about 22 years old here. Half the age I am today. Just a young flyboy with his motorcycles, a lot of adventure ahead of him, and no idea what the future had in store. Fifteen years later, he traded in that bachelor life to marry my mom and start a family. My sister and I were lucky beneficiaries of that decision.

We couldn’t have asked for a better father. He taught us through his actions what hard work, loyalty, humility, and family really mean. We miss you every day, Jorge, but we’re grateful for the years we had with you and the legacy you left behind. Happy Father’s Day to one of the best. by @stehvn

Mtn. Homies. Circa 2000.

Proof that we survived frosted tips, baggy shorts, questionable decisions, dial-up internet, and Y2K.

A few more gray hairs. A few less hairs. A lot more stories.
From middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Grateful for a friendship that has stood the test of time.
