this summer, i had the amazing opportunity to travel to copenhagen for a two-week fashion design intensive at the scandinavian academy of fashion design. class was held every day from 9am to 2:30 pm, leaving me plenty of time to explore the beautiful city in my free time. on the first day, we were introduced to the objectives of the course and were each given a concept for our collection based on a decade and theme. i was assigned the 1950s & comics, a concept that pushed me outside of my comfort zone thematically.

the first week was focused on honing our design skills through collecting visual inspiration, collaging, and sketching, which helped us create our 5-look lineup. at the end of the first week, we picked one garment from our lineup to create a technical flat for and construct the following week. i created this saddle-shoe inspired bustier top, with padded cups, boning, underwire, and a full lining.

i am so grateful for this remarkable experience, my amazing professors at SAFD, and all of the wonderful and talented girls from around the world that i had the chance to meet!
