By Royal Appointment Review

Queen Elizabeth II was one of the most widely viewed figures in modern history, yet the people responsible for constructing her iconic public image have largely remained in the shadows. By Royal Appointment, the debut play from Daisy Goodwin, seeks to bring those people into the light. Currently playing at Cambridge's Arts Theatre, the production takes the audience behind the scenes of the royal wardrobe, exploring the relationships between the Queen, her Dresser, her Designer and her Milliner across the decades of her reign.

@jeevestakescharge_ Theatre Review

Across his life, P.G. Wodehouse created an entire carnival of quirky characters, the most famous of these characters is of course the eccentric Bertie Wooster and his wise and loyal valet Jeeves. Now, after first debuting in 1980, original director Hugh Wooldridge returns to direct a new production of Jeeves Takes Charge at the Charing Cross Theatre for a limited run What makes this particular adaptation of Jeeves and Wooster so unique though, is that the double act, along with many other characters, are all performed by just one man.

@shakescene.shakespeare Theatre Review and Interview

For the past few years, Shake-scene has blended the tradition of cue-script and their own style of reinvention of William Shakespeare’s work. Set against the backdrop of a community centre kitchen, their most recent performance occurred at the Hilldrop Community Centre this past Sunday.

After the performance Alex was joined by Associate Director and Bookholder Lizzie Conrad Hughes and Beatrice's actor Kate Andrews to discuss the production and organisation more

Malory Towers UK Tour Review

Given the wide variety of adaptations of Enid Blyton's many works, it is somewhat surprising that it took until 2019 for her famed series 'Malory Towers' to be adapted for the stage. The series, which focuses on the boarding school of the same name, was transformed into by the highly regarded @emmaricecompany

Acclaimed Korean musical You & It is heading to London's King's Head Theatre

@youandit_themusical, the Korean musical that's been turning heads across Asia and the UK, is making its way to London. The show lands at the @kingsheadtheatre in Islington for a limited run from 20th August to 26th September, off the back of successful stints in South Korea and Taiwan plus a sell-out month at Edinburgh Fringe back in 2024.

The story is set in a near future where AI and humans live side by side, and centres on a widower who's given the chance to reunite with his late wife through an AI recreation of her. What follows digs into grief, memory and what actually makes us human when technology starts blurring those lines.

The musical picked up Best Musical at the Daegu International Musical Festival and has built a reputation for its emotional weight and strong score. by @stepbehindthestage

Theatre Review: Venus and Adonis

Under the blanket of the bubonic plague, William Shakespeare turned to poetry instead of plays. It was at this time that he would write Venus and Adonis, an adaptation of a portion of the Metamorphoses which became what most believe to be his very first publication and now sits amongst The Bard’s most acclaimed works. Over 400 years later, Gregory Doran and the RSC adapted the piece into an artful theatrical piece that two decades later still brings audiences new and old into this world of comedy, sensuality, and romance.

Step Behind The Stage with @officialkatetheshrew

We are delighted to be joined today by Kate Andrews, who is playing Benedick in The Sirrah Sisters' upcoming production of Much Ado About Nothing, running at Brockley Max from the 4th to 6th of June.

@thesirrahsisters are bringing a bold, fresh take on Shakespeare's beloved romcom with an all-female and non-binary cast, with Kate bringing a queer and neurodiverse perspective to one of the play's most iconic roles, Benedick.
