POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I remember. That day I was supposed to be taking my first ever college exam - Intro to American Literature. After the news broke, I wasn’t sure if classes would still be held. I went to campus anyway. About half the class came.

I remember a girl sat outside the door to the classroom crying while two others comforted her. More students were crying inside the room. The professor had the news muted on the TV but the images flashing across the screen were loud enough.

I remember the exam was canceled, instead we discussed our reactions to what we knew was a historically significant moment. The class expressed fear and concern - it had only been a couple hours since the first plane went down and no one knew if the attack was over.

I remember one student mentioned she had just arrived 10 days earlier from her home country - where her family had lived in fear most of her life. She had felt safe in the US until that morning.

I remember Campus closed before the end of class. The walk to the parking lot was silent - no one talked - not the sound of a single plane in the sky.

I remember. 25 years later. by @steph.in.okc

Motherhood is such a wild journey! I miss the little moments from when the boys were younger, but I’ll always cherish those memories. Watching them grow into who they are and finding their own way is such a bittersweet gift.

Feeling extra grateful to be their mom today. Happy Mother’s Day 🤍 by @steph.in.okc
