Wearing a mask for hours at a time can create the perfect environment for irritation, breakouts, and conditions like perioral dermatitis.
Dermatologist @themenopausederm Corinne Erickson shares simple ways dental professionals can protect their skin barrier throughout the workday, including what to use under your mask, whether makeup matters, when to give your skin a break, and how to care for it after a long clinical day. by @steph.polishedposture

$35k!!

At 81 years old.

And that’s not even the scariest part.

Can you imagine being 81, have a history of blood clots, and being told you need to stop your meds for major dental surgery to remove all your lower teeth and learn to function again with a denture?

This made the value of dental hygienists and prevention literally hit home for me, and hit hard!

I don’t share this to judge how anyone got to this point.

There are SO many factors that affect oral health, and not every dental problem is preventable.

I’m sharing it because I think we sometimes forget what preventive dental care is really about.

It’s not just about removing plaque, polishing teeth, or having a pretty smile.

It’s about preserving someone’s ability to eat, get proper nutrition, stay healthy, and maintain their quality of life as they age.

This is why I am so proud to be a hygienist and have so much value in what we do.

The education we provide, the problems we catch early, and the preventive care we deliver can have an impact that lasts decades.

We do so much more than clean teeth. ❤️

Don’t ever feel minimized or not valued because you are. by @steph.polishedposture

Just a few reasons why hygienists kick a** by @steph.polishedposture

Sometimes painful areas are the ones that need to be strengthened, not stretched!

For me, it really didn’t take much to tell a huge difference.

I started with 3 sets of 10 leg lifts then progressed to using a band for 3 sets of 10.

I did these a few times a week and they got rid of my pain!

This experience makes me think of everyone who has shoulder, neck, or back pain: do those musclessimply need to get stronger? 🤔

Cannot stress this enough:

The skinnier and heavier the handle, the more effort force needed to use it.

This means:

☹️More Strain
☹️More fatigue
☹️more risk of injury

Those who have made th switch know what I’m sayin’

Get yourself some WIDE handles mirrors and save your bod!

My entire shop including mirrors is on sale for hygiene month.

I used to be afraid of speaking in public:

But now it’s one of my most favorite things!

It’s true what they say: “scared? Do it anyway”

I recently had the opportunity to speak for @smiledoctorsofficial at two of their events.

10/8/26: I gave my Top 5 Ergonomic Mistakes CE for @prairieviewortho

10/15/26: I was able to give my (slightly longer) Top 5 Ergonomic Mistakes CE for @tlorthodontics

I was blown away by both events, from the initial emails, the planning, the event and the attendees, they were fantastic events.

I love that they are providing these for their community, and ergonomics is one topic that applies to everyone, from the front desk to the back.

Thank you for trusting me with your events!

If you’d like me to come speak for you, my meeting planner link is in my bio!
