i take my nighttime routine seriously
my friends know how early i go to bed (9.30pm) but what most don’t know is that sublimage has quietly been part of my routine for the past year or so.

sleep is my reset + so is my nighttime skincare
i like knowing that while i switch off, my skincare is doing the work.

the latest addition, sublimage l’extrait baume regard has been especially good after long days, helping me wake up with fewer signs of fatigue around my eyes.

💭 CHANEL GRAND PARFUMEUR 上海 //
总的来说，this fragrance experience completely shifted my perspective. learning about the house’s approach to perfumery, the craftsmanship behind each fragrance, and the rich history of chanel was genuinely eye opening.

one of the highlights was speaking with sylvie legastelois, chanel’s industrial designer behind the fragrance packaging. hearing about the level of thought and precision that goes into every detail, right down to the extrait bottle, was incredibly inspiring. as someone who styles spaces through carefully considered objects and materials, i found a lot of parallels in her design philosophy.

thankful for enriching experiences like these. 🫶🏽

8/2 : today is my mother’s birthday, and i thought i’d do something positive in her name.

we never really had a relationship. she always felt more like a stranger to me than most friends.

three years ago, just before she was admitted into palliative care, i wrote her a letter. she has never read it, and she probably never will.

for a long time, i kept it to myself. today, i feel ready to share it.

not because i want to revisit the past, but because i hope our story might offer a little hope to someone navigating a complicated relationship with a parent, or carrying wounds from childhood.

I’m sorry for the people who had to meet me while i was struggling through understanding my own flaws and accepting them. i used my pain as a shield + and wielded it to make my mistakes seem ok.

healing isn’t about forgetting, and it doesn’t erase what happened. it takes time. it asks us to face difficult truths, make peace with them, and eventually move forward.

if you’re somewhere in the middle of that journey, i hope this reminds you that healing is possible.

this isn’t the end of your story.

🫂 speaking with Sylvie Legastelois, Director of Packaging Creation & Graphic Identity at CHANEL Fragrance & Beauty, on what a “finished” design really means.

this brief encounter left me incredibly inspired. here was someone who has spent over four decades shaping the identity of one house, while I spend my time moving from project to project, each with a different client, brief and story.

listening to how she thinks about design, longevity + legacy reminded me that good design isn’t about chasing what’s new. it’s about creating something with enough clarity, restraint + intention that it can endure.
