Rough Draft (sound on!!)– this short was the result of a few conversations between @greisen3 and I about the process and challenge of creativity. False-starts, roadblocks and direction changes, failures and successes. And the feelings that accompany each step.

When I initially met Gianna and watched her working with dancers, I realized that to some extent our process was similar: have a plan and then be prepared to embrace accidental genius. Which is a place it took me years to get to; for a long time, I battle anxiety in the studio going into every shoot. Would it work? Would the human in front of the camera understand and play with me? What if I fuck up the lighting? What if it doesn’t look like the picture in my head? The list of punishing questions went on, and my anxiety rose with each one.

Working with a cognitive behavioral therapist (thank you @kristenborg1) helped me to accept that the anxiety, the unknown, and accidental discoveries were an acceptable part of the process.

Which is a lot of words about a two-minute video.

For our latest Collider profile, we sat down with Tessa Thompson to talk about her ever-evolving career.

Fresh off major acclaim for Hedda and a Golden Globe nomination, Thompson is now turning heads with Netflix’s psychological thriller His & Hers, where she plays a journalist pulled back into her hometown to investigate a murder tied to her estranged husband. Between collaborating with visionary directors, shaping projects as a producer, and continuing to expand complex roles for women, especially Black women, Thompson is firmly in her “doing it all” era.

Our October forecast? 20/20 Vision. With VisionQuest streaming on Disney+ tomorrow, we’re spotlighting the incredible Paul Bettany. 👓️

From voicing J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man to becoming Vision himself, Bettany has spent nearly two decades as one of the MCU’s most quietly essential players. Now he’s closing out the WandaVision trilogy with James Spader’s Ultron back in the picture, and some serious father-son tension to sort through. Consider this our clearest Vision yet.

“This is the greatness of great art, isn’t it? The art that hides the art is always, for me, very, very interesting.”

Mayday may be set during the Cold War, but its real story is about looking past our assumptions to understand the people on the other side.

Kenneth Branagh and Ryan Reynolds explore how the film uses the familiar buddy-action-comedy genre to quietly tackle ideas about difference, loyalty, fear, and the gray areas between us, all without losing the fun.

That instant connection between Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh became the secret ingredient behind their chemistry in Mayday. The pair clicked so naturally on set that their real-life friendship began to mirror the unexpected bond between their characters.

In our exclusive interview, the Mayday stars open up about finding that rare kind of chemistry you simply can’t manufacture, and why genuine affection can make a buddy comedy work.
