Most visibility advice focuses on doing more.
Post more. Share more. Be everywhere.

But the leaders who attract the best opportunities aren’t the most visible.

They’re the most clearly positioned.

When your message is specific:
• People understand your expertise quickly
• The right invitations come to you
• You spend less time promoting, and more time being sought out

Clarity before visibility.
Positioning before promotion.

You’ve built expertise.
You don’t need more tactics.

You need clarity on:
• What you want to be known for
• What to say yes to and what to decline
• How your voice connects to real opportunity

I work privately with thoughtful leaders who want to strengthen their visibility, authority, and speaking strategy, without overposting, overperforming, or chasing attention.

Inside Private Advisory, we focus on:
• Signature positioning and message
• Speaking and thought-leadership strategy
• High-leverage visibility decisions
• Calm, grounded executive presence

This work is strategic, personalized, and selective.

Private Advisory begins with a conversation.

One aligned strategy can change the trajectory of your professional life.

After beginning Private Advisory, this client:

• Clarified her professional positioning
• Developed a signature talk
• Built her visibility platform (website + newsletter)
• Created a speaker reel and media assets
• Booked her first paid speaking engagement
• Secured podcast and press opportunities
• Launched an aligned group program

The shift wasn’t more effort.

It was clarity on what mattered and what didn’t.

Clarity changes trajectory.

It’s time for HOST OR GHOST with Stephanie Thoma!

We’re putting modern friendships, social habits, and unexpected opportunities to the test.

Is consistency more important than chemistry? Should you trust a friend’s first impression? And when is a detour actually the opportunity you’ve been waiting for?

Some answers might surprise you. Others might make you rethink your relationships.

Watch Stephanie make the call, then tell us: What are YOU hosting or ghosting?

What if serendipity isn’t luck?

Stephanie Thoma walked 32 miles around Manhattan for the Great Saunter.

She also walked away with a job opportunity she never could have planned for.

Not because she was “networking.” Because when a conversation opened up, she knew how to talk about who she was, what she cared about, and where she was headed.

In this BIG TALK, we get into creating more surface area for serendipity, the “identity lag” that can happen when your life starts catching up to your ambitions, and why sometimes the best thing you can do is keep taking action, then loosen your grip on the outcome.

And yes, there’s also a story involving 12 goals, a fire, and a TEDx talk.

I made my first-ever princess cake from scratch for this episode with an absolute QUEEN. 👑🎂

Why a princess cake?

You’ll have to wait for my conversation with Stephanie Thoma to find out. 😉

Stephanie is a Speaking & Thought Leadership Advisor who helps founders, authors and executives turn their expertise into compelling talks, thought leadership and opportunities.

And the timing of this episode is especially good: this Tuesday, October 6, she’s hosting a complimentary live workshop, “So You Want to Give a TEDx Talk?” — sharing what she’s learned from 13 years inside the TED/TEDx ecosystem.

For now: admire the cake.

And stay tuned for Stephanie’s episode of Well Hosted with Liz.

There comes a moment when you have to choose what’s true for you over what’s familiar.

Open the Gate is my reminder to listen to that inner voice.

It’s out now. ♥️

Day 1 at Barnard.

Today I began teaching public speaking through Immerse Education as part of the TED Summer School program at Barnard College.

Helping people communicate with confidence has been at the heart of my work, so this opportunity feels like a natural fit.

Already inspired by the curiosity and thoughtful questions in today’s class. Looking forward to seeing how everyone’s message evolves over the coming weeks. 💙 by @stephaniemthoma

Introvert ≠ quiet.
Stephanie Thoma went from employee to boss and built calm authority without becoming someone she’s not.

Introverts don’t need to avoid networking- they just need to structure it differently.
