I didn’t know how much life would ask of me.
 But when it did, I showed the F up.
 This is the story of how I became a caregiver, a widow, and somehow — a woman learning to live again.

In 2018, my husband was diagnosed with ALS. I became his full-time caregiver. Overnight, life changed. There was no guidebook, just love, fear, exhaustion — and the deep knowing that I had to keep showing up.

We fought hard. And when the end came, then came the silence.

To survive the grief, I stayed busy. I painted. I planted. I built things with my hands because I didn’t know what else to do. Projects became my therapy. They didn’t erase the pain — but they gave it somewhere to go.

One year after he passed, I marked his anniversary with flowers I sent to myself. Not because I wasn’t broken — but because I wanted to honor both the grief and the beauty that still exists.

Slowly, we began to heal.
 Not in a straight line. Not all at once. But piece by piece.
 As a family. As individuals. As people learning how to breathe again.

This is the most honest I’ve ever been about what we’ve lived through.
 And it’s the beginning of what I hope will be a bigger conversation — about caregiving, grief, and the quiet courage it takes to start over.
