Revisiting and making some edits to On the Intensity of Color for amplified cello. The piece was written for @stephenarom, who gave the work a beautiful premiere!!

I was really inspired by the work of Cy Twombly while working on this piece. His paintings burst with color - I wanted to capture that by using harmonic gestures where an abstract melody pokes through. by @stephenarom

Some lovely shots from the Stockholm Early Music Festival who hosted the final concert of our EFFEA-sponsored tour of “Discret et Distrait” on the 6th of June. This programme unites musical styles from across 18th-century Europe, which has made it extra meaningful to be able to perform it in all several amazing places. We’re grateful for our community of curious and creative minds, and we celebrate a world illuminated by a plethora of perspectives and cultures spanning across centuries!

This tour was made possible and sponsored by the @europeanfestivalsassociation 🇪🇺 and @amuzantwerpen 🇧🇪 in collaboration with the @nationalcentreforearlymusic 🇬🇧 and @earlymusicsweden 🇸🇪. We are excited to introduce a special guest musician: viol player and cellist Stephen Moran! @stephenarom

Stephen joins us from Switzerland and along with Antonia completes our ensemble lineup for The Dark Lady. ✨
We are particularly excited that he will be playing Lirone, an instrument rarely heard – it’s going to be a pretty magical continuo section!

💗 Some very lovely memories from our March performance of “Discret et distrait” at AMUZ! We had a fruitful time there, working together with the great Philippe Pierlot to find new intricate inspiration, and sharing our sonic discoveries with the warm and enthusiastic audience.
