New untitled marble mosaic 60 cm x 60 cms slightly smaller in scale based on drawings my father made in the last few weeks of his life. It’s a homage to someone who never got to go to art school but had talent. I got to go to art school because of his sacrifices. A mixture of Travertine Noce, Azul Cielo, Azul Macuba and Bardiglio. There may be some overpainting #mosaici # taken in Southwark Town Hall by @stephenelson2015

New wall based marble mosaic finished on Friday 120 cms x 80 cms, scroll through for closer details. Green Fugabella Kerakoll as the binding. The stone is machine finished so it feels a little more pixelated. These mosaics are based on sketches and photographs of historical models, coloured mosaics found in the Archaelogical museum Naples. A very slow but enjoyable process #marble #mosaics #contemporary Art taken in Southwark Town Hall by @stephenelson2015

Some fabulous photos with strange angles and close ups by @kmw2810. The work FIGURE WITH A UNIVERSE/BLACK HOLE is bronze and wood. The head is painted bronze taken from a photograph of two black holes side by side, the painting on bronze mimics a universe,a universe with our heads infinite, the eyes are the black holes.
The wooden pieces are reclaimed from other sculptures from a variety of different places. The bronze universe head was cast @walnut_works and only in this sculpture has it found a home and now placed expertly on a shelf by @grimesoona with a new cast of characters @royalacademyarts until August
