Happy Halloween. Skål! 👻🎃 by @stephenjdevincent

Odin’s 2nd birthday! 🎁 🎂 🎉 by @stephenjdevincent

Ode to Odin, Age Two

Odin, named for
gods of old,

Our gentle king in coat
of golden cream.

You pause at stairs,
you eye the car,

Then leap with abandon,
a wagging star.

Your bowl may wait
while you decide

If kibble suits
your princely pride.

A sniff, a stare, a
thoughtful pause,

The choosiest king
without a cause.

But oh, the bed
becomes your stage,

Where a multicolored caterpillar
dangles proud from
your soft jaws

As you parade to our applause.

Across the quilt, a
fuzzy crown,

You strut and circle,
then flop down.

Your treasure held,
your tail aflutter,

Our hearts are yours,
like warm, soft butter.

And Svend looks on, a
brother true,

Who shares the couch
and the view.

Two dogs, two hearts,
one happy pack.

Each loved the same,
with no going back.

So here’s to Odin,
careful and sweet,

With caterpillar and
happy feet.

Happy second
birthday, golden king,

You make our pack a
better thing. by @stephenjdevincent

October 10, 2015. Our wedding day. The best day of my life. October 10, 2026. Our 11th anniversary. The best 11 years of my life. And they just keep getting better and better.

Happy Anniversary, my beloved Rufus. I’m so grateful for you everyday.

Svend and Odin from above. After a rainy walk and wait to board the ferry the boys are exhausted. They’ll have renewed energy once they’re back on the beach. by @stephenjdevincent

Tomorrow is the unofficial start of fall in the US.

But today, on this Labor Day, my boys and I are soaking up every last bit of sunshine and doing all we can to love the moment and forget the world. 😍😎

Tomorrow is another day…. by @stephenjdevincent

I came out of my office a few minutes ago and turned to find Svend with his chin on the window sill looking out to the driveway.

Rufus left for Zurich on Monday. Svend is waiting for him to come home. While Svend is outside with me now I have no doubt that he’ll go upstairs and return to the window over the course of the next few days.

You are the calm to my chaos, the anchor to my soul.
