I am thrilled to announce: Mark Cetilia, Stephen Vitiello w Chrystine Rayburn, Gardener, and Syncretist performing at Gallery5 on Wednesday August 19th. This special show will challenge and reward the adventurous listener.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19th • Doors 7pm • $12 adv/$15 DOS

https://gallery5arts.org/calendar/gallery-electrophonique

Headlining, this is the Richmond debut for Mark Cetilia of Mem1, an interdisciplinary artist whose practice exists at the nexus of analog and digital technologies. With performance systems utilizing custom hardware and software, Mark’s work is an exercise in carefully controlled chaos. A teacher at both RISD and Brown University, Mark has performed at festivals throughout the world, and had his work screened/installed at the London ICA, Society for Arts and Technology (Montréal, QC), R.K. Projects (Providence, RI), and SoundWalk (Long Beach, CA).

Mem1 + Stephen Vitello - “Age of Insects”• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRAdXsrjJho

Stephen Vitiello - who collaborated with Mark on “Age of Insects” - will be performing accompanied by Chrystine Rayburn. Their duets explore textural atmospheric guitar and space, while creating a resonance between electronic and acoustic instruments with Chrystine’s rich baritone clarinet work.

Gardener is the long-running synth-psych project from Dash Lewis. Using synthesizers, samplers, an array of effects pedals, and his voice, Lewis builds massive, glacial walls of sound that take influence from The Beach Boys, Harmonia, Theo Parrish, Cluster, El-P, and the Bomb Squad.

Syncretist is a solo electronic project from Robert Salsbury, co-curator of Richmond’s Sunday Soundtracks concert series. Syncretist explores melody and texture using club idioms in a format that mixes song structure with a seamless dj style presentation, working from a strong 90s IDM sensibility. taken in Gallery5 by @stephenvitiello

Bruits, vol. 5: Stephen Vitiello & Mimi Luse

Conversation with @stephenvitiello and @mimis_wholesale_img_emporium at @inha_fr with @centrepompidou , Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm!

This fifth listening session in the “Bruits” (Noise) series is dedicated to sound works from the Centre Pompidou’s New Media collection. Artists Stephen Vitiello and Mimi Luse have selected a series of pieces from the collection to define, in the form of a conversation, their own relationship to sonic and visual noises in their respective artistic journeys.

The presentation of works by Tony Conrad, Kristin Oppenheim, Charlemagne Palestine, Robin Rimbaud, Steve Roden and Eder Santos, among other artists, allows us to examine the role of noise in different cultures and musical practices. These sonic explorations, complemented by works from musicians outside the collection, question how abrasive sounds can produce an immersive experience, revealing a contrast between auditory comfort and discomfort. This distinction varies according to artistic research and our relationship to listening, and is explored throughout the dialogue between Stephen Vitiello and Mimi Luse, whose diverse backgrounds offer complementary perspectives on this collection.

Free admission, subject to availability.

Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm

at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA):
Auditorium Jacqueline Lichtenstein
Galerie Colbert
2 rue Vivienne
75002 Paris

Many thanks to Stephen & Mimi, and to the INHA team!
