Lockdown 2020 has given us here at SW&Co the perfect opportunity to organise our archive of approximately 2,500 envelopes full of photographs of contemporary art from the 1990s to 2010s.⠀

Damien Hirst’s iconic ‘spot paintings’ seem to pop up a lot as we archive our way through the mid-nineties. The series’ titles were often long and complicated pharmaceutical names such as ’N-Chloroacetyl-l-phenylalanine (PFS) Crystalline’ which made the assistant’s field note taking a particularly long winded affair, as was identifying the colourful works from black and white polaroids.⠀
