First post of the new year is of the boys Gus and Nemo. 💕Gus has diabetes and gets insulin twice a day. 💉Nemo has a super sensitive gut and can only eat duck LID canned food. 🦆Gus is Nemo’s cat. Nemo is my cat. Just how it worked out. 🤷‍♀️ by @stephmfernandez

My kitties Nemo and Gus got an amazing gift from @basepaws for National Cat Day!! 😱 I attended their wonderful Cat Behavior Summit a few weeks ago, and in addition to all the invaluable information I got from their expert speakers, I won a @thelitterrobot !! 🎉 Finally had the chance to set it up and now I just have to convince Nemo and Gus to give it a try! 🐱🐱 Wish me luck! 🤞Because, you know, cats. 🤷‍♀️ Thank you so much @basepaws and @thelitterrobot !! ❤️ #nationalcatday #cats #basepaws #litterrobot #catbehaviorsummit by @stephmfernandez

Posted @withregram • @hexenkult A buddy from the animal shelter. May I offer a few words on behalf of some voiceless friends? Due to the Covid 19 panic Los Angeles city and county animal shelters are either closed to the public or holding greatly reduced hours (some are by appointment only). Add to that the general reluctance of many people to leave the house, and it's easy to see that it will be almost impossible for guys like this one to get adopted any time soon. The tragic effect of this is that many will see their time run out and be euthanized while humanity is shut down (don't buy the "no kill" thing at big city shelters like LA, I don't want to go on a tangent but if you don't believe me research it). There is currently a petition to put a moratorium on euthanasia at LA area shelters, there is a link in my Stories. Please do not buy kittens and puppies from breeders. There are thousands and thousands of amazing purebreds sitting in shelters and rescues.
In my rescue, I get a lot of requests for purebreds in emails and I always ask... Why? "Oh because they tend to be good with kids. Oh because I hear they are very social". If you just as a rescue, "who has the friendliest personality?" They will tell you. If you ask, "which Kitty is good with kids?" They will tell you.
Reasons for buying are often superficial. Wanting something "cool". But let me tell you. There are plenty of "cool" and "unique" and "friendly" and "healthy" and hell even "purebred" in rescue and in the shelters.
And also, please don't adopt OR buy a kitten or puppy as a "gift". Make sure that person really wants a pet before gifting. I always recommend gifting them a stuffed animal that says "let's adopt a pet!" And letting them choose ❤️ that way the pet doesn't end up returned.

If you can, please donate to help this little girl get eyelids! 🙏 Thank you! ❤️🐾 Posted @withrepost • @sweetbabydozer This pic was taken back in February...when Dozer had the rest of her teeth pulled and her cryotherapy done on her eyes. This was the trip where we found out that Dozer had the option of going thru this small surgery every 6-9 months or just having one surgery to give her eyelids!! The thought of Dozer getting eyelids and not having to go thru surgery at least once a year for the rest of her life was a very exciting idea for us!! I mean who wants to go thru surgery that often when you can just have one surgery? Everyone who knows me and Dozer...whether it be thru social media or in real life knows that I will do anything in my power to give her the life she deserves. I want to see my girl keep her eyes and to keep them as healthy as she can for as long as she can. There has already been damage done to her eyes...damage done before we really knew she didn't have eyelids...we don't want any more damage done. She gets to go and see so many places we don't want her to lose that because of damage to her eyes!! She is a beautiful special little girl with beautiful eyes...she deserves this surgery.
