Went to the opening of Toi Tauranga Art Gallery today and had the joy of not only seeing the award winning art of the talented Pusi Urale (Samoan artist) we were blessed to meet her, talk with her and get a photograph with her. She was funny, cheeky, naughty & inspirational. @pusiuraletheartist thank you for making the time to talk with us today. taken in Tauranga Art Gallery by @stepstoleaps

This mandala began its design with the thought of using the sea for inspiration. Slowly each section revealed itself. I love this process of pure creation, starting with a blank canvas and transforming it into art.

The tribute message on the back reads "Her soul is as vast as the sea. The waves are her strength, the shells her sanctuary, and the pearls are the luminous wisdom she holds within."

It was a gift for a close friend.

Welcome to my weekly podcast, FROM MY HEART TO YOURS, with special guest Dalice Rose-McSeveney: "I've been undertaking personal development and exploration for as long as I can remember. I felt a bit isolated, lonely, and misunderstood as I was growing up finding my place in the world. I also went through some experiences where I felt a bit letdown by the people around me. I decided to only trust in myself.

Looking back, I can understand the decisions my younger self made like too much drinking in my twenties.

Over the years, I started to grow in understanding and I realized that bringing trust back into my life would be valuable. In order to do that I needed to learn to forgive others and myself.

My identical twin and I were compared all of our lives, and we are both very independent people.

We grew up in a very caring and loving family. My twin and I are the youngest of five children. When it came to ballet, we were compared to our eldest sister who did well in ballet. Once we were old enough to enroll, the teacher skipped us a year ahead, just because our sister was so good.

Crazy little things like that kept adding up. One day a relative told me that I had gotten the brains and my sister had gotten the looks. That was the tipping point for me. Even though it was said from a place of love, it solidified how I was feeling about being so socially awkward at school and feeling like I didn't fit in. I felt as though I wasn’t being seen.

I definitely used it as a lesson when I became a mother. My boys are very independent and have very different personalities. When I see my youngest with comparisons about his abilities to his oldest brother, I help him to focus on the things where they actually have different strengths or are equally as good as each other.

I am now an Ambassador of Gratitude and I lead people through Gratitude challenges and workshops.” @stepstoleaps

Next stage in my drawing adventure. Ears, they are hard, I need to practice these more, I didn't enjoy them as much as the eyes out the mouth...there lies there secret if you feel resistance then lean into it as things will only ever improve if you keep trying 👂.

The mouths were fun, still room for improvement, especially getting right angles for slight side view but once you add color they pop 👄.

Enjoying my #drawingchallenge. Stay tuned for more. #stepstoleaps #creativity #mindfulness #fun #joyjuice by @stepstoleaps

Recently I purchased a lovely rainbow calcite from Blissful Things NZ. It was an intentional purchase as I was wanting have it as the centre of a mandala. Once the calcite arrived I was inspired to use its colours within the mandala. Each stage took thought sometimes mentally experimenting with different ideas before settling on one. I am so happy with how it turned out.

26% of women globally have been subjected to intimate partner violence (IPV)!

When I read about the latest viral tiktok post which asked the question "Would you prefer to be alone in the woods with a bear or a man" it got me thinking. A lot of the posts were pre-fixed with you don't get to choose who the man is & some even added you don't know them.

Yet, with the global statistic of 26% of women being subjected to IPV, I imagine for them they may still choose the bear if it was their partner they were alone with 😔.

Then I read about the current appalling statistic in Australia that 27 women have been killed so far in 2024 due to IPV (by current or former partners)!

"No not all men are monsters but we live in fear of the ones that are. We change our behaviour because of the bad ones not the good ones because the risk is to high for us not to. To the good men out there do something more, just not killing is not enough, do something". ~ Carrie Bickmore.

(To hear her letter to men in full go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/77djJYZq6NGoWzem/?mibextid=oFDknk)

As a victim of rape (1 incident involving 4 men & 1 involving 1 man - all of whom I either barely or didn't know) at the age of 16, I know what it feels like to be a statistic. I also know what it feels like to choose not to report it, to feel shame, confusion, hurt, to bottle it up, to feel guilt, to feel sadness & to feel fear. I walk that fear today, yet thankfully have since processed the shame & guilt.

I'm big on letting the numbers do the talking as they are devoid of emotions. Yet, I ask you to also reflect on what some women said when asked the bear vs man question, stop, pause & accept, it is their truth. In fact if you look at the volume of women who chose bear over man its by far representing the majority.

I know it's confronting & sobering. This is why I've put this video together so we can all acknowledge the problem exists, in recovery programs its the 1st step 🧡.

Two days ago, I farewelled one of the most incredible humans on this planet. He lit up a room with his smile, generated laughter with his cheeky humour, loved his wife & family deeply & had a sparkle in his eyes. The world has lost some joy with his passing, yet he lives on in each of his children, grandchildren & great grand children.

Love you, Dad ❤️

Blue Delight 🩵

The color blue represents both the sky and the sea and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, and intelligence.

A creative gift for a special person. Using charkra colours to provide energy & centering wherever used. Used whether as a for of art to brighten up your space or to hold & energise a hot beverage.

Chakras are, in a way, like M&Ms—they embody the colors of the rainbow. However, before you start quoting ROYGBIV it’s important to understand that the chakra colors are unique, with different meanings and influences on your well-being.

There is physiology, psychology, and spirituality behind the chakra colors, and when you understand how to use them, you can enrich your life in ways you may have never considered.

What Are the Chakras?

There are seven charkras in the human body, which are points along the spine from the base of it to the crown of the head.

The Root Chakra: Muladhara

The Sacral Chakra: Svadhisthana

The Solar Plexus Chakra: Manipura

The Heart Chakra: Anahata

The Throat Chakra: Vishuddha

The Third Eye Chakra: Ajna

The Crown Chakra: Sahasrara

Meaning ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit, the term ‘chakra’ refers to the circular, spinning (like a wheel) energy center. And that energy is ancestrally known as ‘prana.’

And when it comes to the seven chakras, they work together to create life force energy, which, when balanced, can be beneficial for the mind, body, and spirit.

I added white to show ascension and as protection of the mind, body & soul.

Handpainted decorated the box to match the coasters.
