Sometimes, the only way to escape who we were is to destroy it. DEEPEST DARKEST {PART 3: DESTRUCTION} Rage, hate, resentment…the things we bury deep enough will eventually find a way out. Until anger consumes everything — the memories, the people, our past… even the person we used to be. And when there is nothing left to hold onto, we set fire to it all. Not because we no longer care. But because we no longer recognize ourselves in the ashes of who we once were. This is the final part of our triple-bill dance film, Deepest Darkest. 3 parts — 3 sides of a woman trying to find herself beneath everything she’s been taught to hide. {Credits} Director, Choreographer: @mamasteppiness Co-Choreographer: @mehtilda Co-Director, DOP, Edit: @valereng_ Co-Director, Production Support: @deo.logy Grip, Production Support: @squidoso Dancers of @stepfamg @stepstudiosg : @amvndc_ — Principal dancer & Lead actress @mehtilda @clockiezz @cyr1106 @sandraqiii @siauuhan @jiayannie @iinaanana_ @geneklx @shijiegwee @leemariosan @bry_cde @koh_joshua Music tracks: Slide - Missy Elliot Paint The Town Blue - Ashnikko, Arcane, League of Legends ••• The full film was screened at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum in London, UK, under the arrangement of Singapore screendance maker @briantohtoh in collaboration with @recreationalwardrobecic !!! We are so thankful for this invitation and hope whoever watched it there enjoyed it!✨🙏🏼 #deepestdarkest #dancefilm #danceSG #filmSG #supportlocalart by @stepstudiosg

What happens when everyone sees you, but you no longer recognize yourself? DEEPEST DARKEST {PART 2: ADDICTION TO FAME} She wanted to be seen. To be noticed. To be loved. To matter. And then, somehow, the attention became everything. The spotlight gets brighter. The eyes get louder. The version of herself she created becomes harder to escape. Until she can no longer tell the difference between who she really is and who everyone wants her to be. Maybe being seen was never the problem. Maybe it was losing herself in the process. Have you ever become someone you don’t recognize? Part 1 in our previous post! {Credits} Director, Choreographer: @mamasteppiness Co-Choreographer: @mehtilda Co-Director, DOP, Edit: @valereng_ Co-Director, Production Support: @deo.logy Grip, Production Support: @squidoso Dancers of @stepfamg @stepstudiosg : @amvndc_ — Principal dancer & Lead actress @mehtilda @clockiezz @cyr1106 @sandraqiii @siauuhan @jiayannie @iinaanana_ @geneklx @shijiegwee @leemariosan @bry_cde @koh_joshua Music track: Guess - Charlie xcx, Billie Eilish ✨ We are excited to share that the full film is being screened at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum in the UK on Monday, 28-Sep! Huge love to @briantohtoh for discovering our work and inviting us to be a part of his event! 🙏🏼🫶🏻 #deepestdarkest #stepfam #dancefilm #danceSG by @stepstudiosg

What if the parts of ourselves we’re most afraid to reveal are the ones we’re taught to hide? DEEPEST DARKEST A triple-bill dance film by STEP Dance Theatre {PART 1: DESIRE} A girl caught between who she believes she should be and the parts of herself she cannot bring herself to accept. Her desire for affection. Her longing to be wanted. Her hunger for attention. Things she has learned to see as wrong, pulling her deeper into a nightmare of shame, temptation and a fading sense of who she really is. But what happens when the things we try hardest to bury are the very things we cannot escape? This is Part 1 of our dance film, DEEPEST DARKEST. Full film will be released on YouTube soon! {Credits} Director, Choreographer: @mamasteppiness Co-Choreographer: @mehtilda Co-Director, DOP, Edit: @valereng_ Co-Director, Production Support: @deo.logy Grip, Production Support: @squidoso Dancers of @stepfamg @stepstudiosg : @amvndc_ — Principal dancer & Lead actress @mehtilda @clockiezz @cyr1106 @sandraqiii @siauuhan @jiayannie @iinaanana_ @geneklx @shijiegwee @leemariosan @bry_cde @koh_joshua Music track: Yumeji’s Theme (Acapella ver.) - @shigeru_umebayashi , Grace Davidson, Nigel Short, The Plum Forest Singers #DeepestDarkest #STEPDanceTheatre #DanceFilm by @stepstudiosg
