Day 15, just rolled over 3000 miles. The Midwest rules. Kansas didn’t suck like everyone said it would. Don’t take the 70, take the old road 50. Didn’t do a single mile of interstates, take all backroad 2 line highways. Stop in small towns. Ride 50 miles one day and 600 the next who cares. Eat an ice cream cone on the curb. See what the locals talk to you about. Take their word for it, camp where they tell you to camp, eat where they tell you to eat. Watch the accents slowly change every few days. Go by yourself. Sleep on the side of the road if you have to, nothing bad will happen. On my 10th and final state. Trying to avoid thinking about real life. I could go back the other way tomorrow. Shovelheads get it done if you believe. Put some wu tang on that shit. I laughed when I crashed in Kansas and cried when I got a raised fist in the air riding by a Navajo on bareback horseback. Last couple days- flew to Minneapolis and bought this all original 21k miles 1983 shovelhead FXRT. About 1500 ever made in the T. Either way, it’s getting ridden all the way home instead of sitting inside a showroom or a store window somewhere. Staying off the interstate the whole way and seeing the road with some time solo. It’s the most comfortable bike I’ve ever spent time on. I think the first half of the first day I was laughing the whole time, probably looked ridiculous. Take the great river road along the Mississippi River if you can, not a bad mile... seriously. Played tag with storms today and got ahead of it from my campsite at 4:30am but the gas station TV this morning said “tornado” somewhere so I got a motel just before a downpour. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa so far. Absolutely beautiful. Dear diary... by @stevanfj

Nobody wanted to step to this thing so I did. Fresh top end and some other new stuff. Absolute dream. Rode it twice for the 500 mile break in and did all the routine oil changes. Rode it a third time to test and tune a super E swap. The fourth time I rode it was to San Felipe Baja Mexico last weekend thru 100 mile stretches of not a single tree or structure to hide from the sun. 100 degree weather with zero cell service and a saddle bag full of tools and spare parts. Didn’t even have to open it. Never missed a beat. I’ve paid more for a set of wheels on a chopper than I paid for this whole bike. 🤷‍♂️ run it for the summer and then it’ll get passed along to whoever wants it. by @stevanfj

I could have kept going all the way to sturgis today... What a beauty on the freeway. 1982 sturgis edition shovel with every record you could want. The chrome and paint are so clean because it was kept in the kitchen. taken in Vista, California by @stevanfj
