In 3 weeks of ownership we’ve had 58 unwanted guests trying to break into this beautiful building and a a result of theft 2 nights ago, now have to employ a mobile K9’unit and 24hr security. The police are…,don’t get me started.

What has happened to beautiful #greatbritain once the world’s powerhouse and now simply been turned inside out.
Help us save these wonderful buildings.
Shall we buy more in the #uk or head to #europe

The story of Stoke Rochford Hall’s will to survive the 20th and 21st century is a common one, but this house refuses to give up.
.
The present building dating from 1843 was designed by architect William Burn, for Christopher Turnor. Its sister house Revesby Abbey hasn’t faired so well, but throughout the 19th century it lived a quiet and idyllic existence.
.
This all changed in 1940 when it was requisitioned by the war office, it became the headquarters for the Second Battalion, the Parachute Regiment. The ill-fated 1944 Arnhem ‘drop’ was planned in the library.
.
It then became a training and conference centre for the National Teachers Union, on the 25 January 2005 a fire gutted the interior of the hall. It was restored by English Heritage over three years at a cost of £12m.
.
After all of this it was put up for sale again being purchased by the Talash Hotels Group in 2016. We were the very last paying guests at the house in 2022, as it became a migrant hotel straight afterwards.
.
It was recently put up for sale again after years of degradation and neglect, damp has penetrated the walls, utter destruction inside, leaking roofs, and open fires have destroyed parts of the beautiful grounds.
.
But a knight on a white horse in the guise of @steve_waugh31_ and his company @stonehouseprojectsltd who are restoring the house to its former glory and turning it into a special place to live for people of a certain age, the house now has 24 hour security and is at least safe from intruders.
.
I have been concerned about Stoke Rochford since we left in 2022, as soon as I saw Steve’s post stating they had purchased it, I reached out, he’s sent me photos of its current state, and after look it at them with only one eye open, I was appalled. Steve has said it may take another 2 years to dry the house out, get things stabilised and get through all the bureaucracy that’s involved in saving a historic house from ruin.

@stonehouseprojectsltd has saved many similarly troubled houses, and I hope to visit them all one day, so I’d personally like to thank the company for saving Stoke Rochford.

✨ Sneak Peek at Steepleton Manor ✨

A little glimpse of the transformation underway at Steepleton Manor!

The stunning bespoke-designed double-herringbone feature porcelain tiles are now being installed, beautifully framed within a brass-effect trim and marble-effect border tiles.

The combination of classic detailing and contemporary finishes is already bringing this space to life, and we can’t wait to reveal the completed bathroom.
