MAHA just saved alternative medicine.

The new proposed congressional budget keeps funding for the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.

The center was previously set to be eliminated.

MAHA got loud, fought back, and helped ensure this critical hub for complementary and integrative health remains funded. by @stevealffdc

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has initiated a new reassessment by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the food preservative BHA — and it’s something we should all be paying attention to.

For anyone who hasn’t heard of it, BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) is a synthetic antioxidant added to many processed foods to keep fats and oils from going rancid. It helps products last longer on the shelf and shows up in everyday items like:

*cereals
*frozen meals
*snack foods
*chips
*certain breads

Why is the FDA reviewing it now?
Decades-old studies reviewed by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) found that very high doses of BHA caused tumors in animals, especially in the forestomach of rats and mice — a digestive organ humans don’t have, but still an important biological signal. Some studies also showed effects on the thyroid and liver.

These tumors were seen at levels far higher than what people normally eat, and there’s no solid human evidence of cancer risk. But because these findings existed — and because science and consumption patterns have changed — the FDA is now taking a fresh look to make sure BHA meets today’s safety standards.

Kennedy has said that if BHA cannot meet today’s gold-standard scientific criteria, the FDA will move to remove it from the food supply.

I’m sharing this because most of us eat these products without thinking twice about what’s in them. If the FDA is re-evaluating a preservative that has been used for generations, it’s a good reminder to check ingredient labels and be aware of what we’re feeding ourselves and our families.

This isn’t about fear — it’s about being informed and paying attention to what’s actually in our food.

We deserve transparency. We deserve safe ingredients. And we deserve to know what’s in the foods we buy. 🌱🥣🍞 by @stevealffdc

“Real food” changed my life long before it became a buzzword.

While my parents were at work, I was raised by my Great Aunt Elsie—one of the first female osteopathic doctors in America. From a very young age, she taught me that food mattered. A lot. Aunt Elsie taught me that white sugar and white flour were poison, and that real nourishment came from whole foods—including raw, unpasteurized milk. She also warned me about many of the new “modern” foods being introduced at the time—like Wonder Bread—which she insisted were not real food at all.

I grew up in the 1950s, when processed and convenience foods were just beginning to take hold in America and reshape the way families ate. That foundation stayed with me. Long before labels, pyramids, or trends, I learned that real, whole food fuels the body and protects our health—and I’ve spent over four decades educating my own patients on this very same truth.

Today, I’m grateful to see this conversation finally going mainstream. While I’m not necessarily a fan of Mike Tyson, I am grateful that MAHA is working hard to educate the public about real food—and publicly acknowledging what should have been corrected a LONG time ago: the food pyramid had it backwards.

Reversing it isn’t radical. It’s overdue.

Sharing this video because even when the message isn’t new, it’s a powerful reminder. Real food matters. Our health depends on it. by @stevealffdc

The loudest lesson from the Super Bowl wasn’t teamwork or perseverance — it was that obesity is best solved by a prescription. Pharma didn’t just purchase ad slots for GLP-1 drugs; it bought the storyline. And if the next generation grows up believing their health lives in an injection rather than in daily habits, that’s on us.

Honestly, the sheer volume was overwhelming. There were so many GLP-1 ads back-to-back that my head was spinning — celebrity after celebrity, commercial after commercial — all reinforcing the same message: this is the solution. And yes, for some adults these medications can absolutely be helpful. That’s not the debate.

What’s troubling is how completely these ads stole the spotlight, leaving little room for real discussions about nutrition, movement, sleep, mental well-being, or prevention. The biggest game of the year felt more like a pharmaceutical infomercial than a celebration of sport, and that shift matters. When kids see health portrayed as something you get from a syringe instead of something you build with habits, we shouldn’t be surprised when habits start to feel irrelevant. That’s a cultural failure worth talking about.

If the Super Bowl — the most-watched event of the year — becomes a platform where medication commercials dominate the conversation about health, we’ve got a serious problem. Pharmaceutical advertising needs to go — and fast. by @stevealffdc

Susan and I were truly honored and grateful to be invited to PERK’s “Freedom Shines Bright Holiday Event", where they wrapped up a remarkable year filled with advocacy, meaningful wins, and incredible momentum.
*
PERK (Protection of the Educational Rights of Kids) is a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting parental rights, promoting informed choice, and advocating for policies that support the health and freedom of families across California and beyond. They educate communities, influence legislation, and empower parents with the tools and knowledge needed to make the best decisions for their children. PERK’s president and co-founder, Amy Bohn, leads with passion and clarity of vision—uniting people and driving meaningful change for families everywhere.
*
Beyond being able to mingle with those making real change for families in California and beyond—and spending the evening in a stunning home that my wife called “A perfect Hallmark movie home”—one of the greatest highlights for me was meeting and hearing Mikki Willis (Director of the documentaries “Plandemic” and “The Creation Code” speak. I had never met him in person before, even though our paths have intersected in many ways over the years. It was a true honor to talk with him and share how grateful I was for the opportunity.
*
I’m sharing this video below so you can hear Mikki speaking because what he said truly resonated with me. In this clip, he talks about how John D. Rockefeller dramatically reshaped the direction of American healthcare by influencing medical school education and pushing petroleum-based pharmaceuticals into mainstream medicine. Even more troubling was the targeting and persecution of alternative health practitioners—many were dismissed, silenced, and even jailed for offering natural approaches to healing. As a Chiropractor, I lived through this reality for many years, and it is incredibly heartwarming to see the truth being spoken openly and gaining strength. This message felt deeply important to share.

⏳ Aging is inevitable, but how we do it is in our hands!

What we eat plays a HUGE role in our energy, recovery, and overall vitality. Ever heard of oxidative stress? It's the result of those pesky unstable molecules, but fear not—antioxidants are here to save the day! 🌱

Here's my go-to list of antioxidants to consider:
✨ Turmeric – Celebrated for its health benefits
🍵 Green Tea – Known for its calming effects
🍇 Resveratrol – Found naturally in grapes, berries, and peanuts
🍊 Vitamin C – Essential for overall health
🥑 Vitamin E – An anti-inflammatory superstar

Remember, supplements are just ONE part of the picture. Real, whole foods and supporting your body's natural processes are key to thriving at every stage.

💫 Healthy aging isn’t about pausing the clock—it’s about living life to the fullest at every opportunity. Live well, age brilliantly!

Chiropractic often gets labeled as "woo" or "unscientific," but that’s a misunderstanding. It's about the intelligence and communication within the body, emphasizing the nervous system's role in running the show!

"The power that made the body heals the body" isn't just a catchy line—it's the essence of biology and neurophysiology. A Vertebral Subluxation isn’t just about bones; it’s about altered input, tone imbalance, and communication interference.

Chiropractic philosophy was ahead of its time, offering insights long before neuroscience caught up. Enhancing brain-body communication impacts everything:

🔹 adaptability
🔹 focus
🔹 inflammation
🔹 sleep
🔹 regulation
🔹 digestion
🔹 strength
🔹 stress
🔹 healing

We don't chase symptoms. We restore expression, paving the way for optimal health. That's not outdated; that's human physiology at its best.

Well said, Dr. Raymond Nichols, D.C.! 👏 by @stevealffdc
